Riff

When Ramona kissed me, I felt a spark inside my body. I never really liked someone like I like Ramona. I'm not even scared to show it in front of her family.

Right now I was on my bed thinking about her. I thought maybe she would hate me knowing that I'm a Jet; I thought wrong.

"Riff, want a couple of beers down at the bar?" Snowboy asks.
"You know, sure" I say as I got ready and we headed down to the bar.

I walked in and was greeted by all of the boys who were sitting in a booth drinking an ABC beer.

"Aye' It's Riff!" Yells Baby John.

I smiled at him and we all started talking about how we should go to the dance that's coming up.

Ramona

"He seems like a great guy" Maria grinned.
"He is, and we kissed" I beamed.

She squealed, but not to loud since my mom was at home making herself some lunch.

"I'm proud of you Ramona," Maria said. "For finally getting over what your father and Ian did to you"
"Honestly, me too" I say.

We got back to picking out some dresses for the dance since we had to go.

Hours later

I was doing the same work I had to do last night since my mom had just went to work. But this time she had me fold the laundry outside.

"Ramona Garcia!" Yelled someone. I looked down and saw Tony.
"Tony!" I yelled.
"Is Maria working?" He asks.
"No!" I yelled back.

But then Riff was by his side. So I immediately got down the stairs. I ran and then hugged Riff tightly.

"I shouldn't be third wheeling you guys" Tony jokes.
"Maria's at the store, she took the day off"

He nodded and walked around the building, probably to Maria's side.

He left me alone with Riff. But I'm not even mad.

"So the dance is coming up, are you going?" He asks.
"Yes I have to" I answered.
"Well, would you like to be my date? We can just meet up there" He asks.
"It's going to have to take a while for Riff to ask Ramona to the dance" I teased and he chuckled.
"Well," He says getting closer to my body. "Ramona should say yes"

I laughed at his comment. "Of course I'll go with you"

I grabbed his hand and then kissed his lips. As we let go, I stared into his eyes. Those damn eyes. That's what made me fall for him. And his choreography.

"Come with me" He pulled my arms and we ran somewhere. Maria and Tony were following behind us.

Again, we ran for several miles, until we reached a sign that read, Johnson Cafe, Bar, & Dancing.

"What're we doing here?" I asked.
"Let us show you" Maria grabbed my arm and we all walked in there together.

There was a whole bunch of people. And there was a stage full of dancers. It was so amazing in here.

We all sat at a booth and started to order. But then a song came on, and Riff — alongside Tony, ran up onto the stage.

When you're a Jet,
You're a Jet all the way
From your first cigarette
To your last dyin' day.

When you're a Jet,
If the spit hits the fan,
You got brothers around,
You're a family man.

You're never alone,
You're never disconnected.
You're home with your own—
When company's expected,
You're well protected!

Then you are set
With a capital J,
Which you'll never forget
Till they cart you away.
When you're a Jet,
You stay
A Jet!

When you're a Jet,
You're the top cat in town,
You're the gold-medal kid
With the heavyweight crown!

When you're a Jet,
You're the swingin'est thing.
Little boy, you're a man;
Little man, you're a king!

The Jets are in gear,
Our cylinders are clickin'!
The Sharks'll steer clear,
'Cause ev'ry Puerto Rican
'S a lousy chicken!

Here come the Jets
Like a bat out of hell—
Someone gets in our way,
Someone don't feel so well!

Here come the Jets!
Little world, step aside,
Better go underground,
Better run, better hide!

We're drawin' the line,
So keep your noses hidden!
We're hangin' a sign
Says "Visitors Forbidden,"
And we ain't kiddin'!

Here come the Jets—
Yeah! And we're gonna beat
Every last buggin' gang
On the whole buggin' street!

On the whole—!
Ever—!
Mother—!
Lovin'—!
Street!

Then they ended their song with a little slide. It was super good, I wish I could dance like that. I ran up to Riff to hug him.

"That was so good!" I yelled.
"That wasn't my best" He was doubting himself.
"Are you crazy?" I asked. "That was incredible, better than I can ever dance"
"Ramona you can do better than I can," He chuckles.
"Whatever you say"

We got back to our booth and talked while eating but we knew we had to go home and get ready for the dance soon.

I watched as Maria kissed Tony goodbye then I turned to Riff, who was already looking at me.

"I'll see you soon" He smiles.

Then I leaned in, and we kissed. A lot. Like a make out session.

"See you soon," I smiled back.

Then Maria and I took hands and walked into her apartment by her window. I watched as Tony and Riff walked away together. I can't wait to see him again.
