It Only Takes Two (DRAMIONE)

Chapter Nine

HERMIONE'S POV
I had just made it out the portrait when Draco fell into step with me. On the way down to breakfast, we talked about literature, which as it turned out, Draco also had a love for muggle literature. When we entered the Great Hall, I was laughing at a quote Draco had said from Shakespeare. All eyes turned to us, mumbles were made and so were accusations. Most were about Draco imperioing me making me hang out with him. We both just ignored the stares and said bye, separating to go to our house tables.

When I reached her table all hell broke loose. "Why were you talking to Malfoy?" Harry asked in his over-protective brother voice. "He's Head Boy and we've decided that we should at least be civil to each other from now on." And with that everyone was quiet. Everyone knew that when I didn't want to talk about something, you don't push it. "Yeah right, there probably together, so she can get me jealous." Ron scoffed. He was sitting with Lavender a little further down the table; they were holding hands on top of the table. What nerve. My body thought before my brain did and stood up. "GET OVER YOURSELF RONALD, I. DON'T. LOVE. YOU. I CAN TALK TO PEOPLE; IT DOESN'T MEAN I'M DATING THEM! SO CRY YOURSELF A RIVER, BUILD A BRIDGE AND GET OVER IT." And with that I took some toast and left.

I was first to get to potions and then followed by Draco, He was smiling, actually smiling. I have never seen him smile. Smirk yes but never before smile. "You seem far too happy." I stated as he approached. "Well the event in the hall was hilarious; you should have seen his face once you left. He looked like he was going to pee himself, so you a weasel broke it off then?" Draco asked. I sighed. "Yeah, he didn't care and all he wanted to do was kiss me so I was going to break it off with him, but then I caught him cheating with brown and I kinda just drop kicked him." I explained. "That stupid weasel, and with brown? Who would drop someone as amazing as you? I mean if you were mine, I would never let you go." Draco then realised he had said it all out loud and blushed. Where the hell had that come from? Luckily the bell rang so we went inside and ignored each other.
Once everyone arrived Professor Slughorn explained that there was a new partner system and he is going to pull names out of a hat. So we all got up and went to the front of the class room, waiting for our names to be called. And as luck would have it the first two names were mine and Draco's. Gasps were made as Draco and I made our way to the back corner table. Draco didn't look into my eyes and I didn't look into his.

After everyone had a pair, Professor Slughorn started the lesson. Today we were working Amortentia . "Can you please add the leaves; I put them in that bowl?" I said pointing to a green bowl sitting next to the other ingredients. Draco picked them up and tipped them into the caldron. "Look Hermione can we just forget what I said earlier, it was a spur of the moment. So may we please just forget it?" He sound really sincere, "Of course Draco, now may you please add that vile of liquid?" nodding he picked up the vile and poured it in. I gave it one last stir and it was done. "Done." I said quite happily. "So what do you smell?" Draco asked innocently. "Er-" I took a whiff. "Freshly cut grass, new parchment and -" I didn't finished, coffee? I smelt coffee, I used to smell Ron's tooth paste but now I could smell coffee. "- and?" Draco asked, opps, I forgot to answer. "Er- thats it." I lied. "What about you?" I tried to change the topic. I really am a 'topic changer' "Freshly rained upon pavements, coffee and vanilla?" that last must be a change for him too. Wait did he say coffee? Must be a coincidence I mean a lot of people love coffee, right?
"Okay." I wrote 'Hermione and Draco onto a piece of parchment, I putted in front or our caldron and raised my hand."Sir, we've finished." Sir just nodded "Okay just label it's yours and you can leave." He said dismissing us. The journey down the hall was quiet, I had a free period now and I wasn't sure what to do. "Hey I um, have a free period , do you want to take a walk" why is he so shy all of a sudden? "Er- sure, why not" so when made our way out of the dungeons and out the front door.

We walked down to the lake were a large acher tree sat. Draco sat down and looked up at me and held out a hand, I let him pull me down ignoring the spark, he pulled me down a little too fast and I fell on top of him. The wind was knocked out of me so I took a big breath in and coffee. I smelled coffee.
