Our instructor, Chabashira-sensei, was the one who distributed our student ID cards and written materials containing the school's special rules. She went to every student's desk and muttered their names and confirmed something.
Some of the female classmates, who received it, checked the points curiously, and shortly after started smiling like a madman who just broke through the mental hospital. Some boys let out a loud laugh as soon as they confirmed the points, saliva started drooling from a corner of their mouths. There was nothing in their eyes, besides, spending their money and buying whatever they wanted.
But it was way too early to rejoice.
Soon, she came over to my desk.
"Ayanokouji Kiyotaka?" She asked as she placed the last card in her hands upon my desk.
"Yes." I looked up at her, and she returned my gaze right after. Now that I got to take a closer look at her face, I could tell her days weren't going well.. night, to be accurate. She relied on eyeliner and an excessive amount of make-up to keep her dark circles and pale skin hidden from her students, but I could see blood vessels bursting in her eyes, proving her preparation wasn't enough. Teachers living here are overworking themselves or what?
Sensing that none of us was going to say anything, we averted our eyes at the same time.
My desk was located in the exact opposite corner of the classroom from the corner where students started receiving IDs, so I was the last student who received it.
She turned around and started walking, meanwhile, my gaze fell upon the student ID card.
They've already deducted points from my cards for the goods I've purchased before getting here. So my points were a little less than 100,000. That means, Koenji and I were the poorest guys in the room, if his points we're also deducted because of paying for coffee.
Noises like a fly singing a song by its wings started to increase in my ears, and the source was, obviously, my over-excited classmates.
"Students who bought products before getting these ID cards hadn't been paid full amount due to the fact that your bill has been paid already," Chabashira-sensei mentioned, as she was shortening the distance between herself and the podium. The room became silent again.
I didn't expect students to start buying anything beforehand. The announcement was mostly directed towards me and Koenji. Even we wouldn't have bought anything if we never would've met each other in such an abrupt way.
All of a sudden, we got to know that we're classmates and destined to spend the next three years of high school together. My relation with Koenji and.. what was her name? Well, it doesn't matter, considering their personalities, it doesn't look like I could establish any sort of gentle, friendly relation with them.
Students started to talk with their newly made friends once again, and before it got out of hand Chabashira-sensei confirmed if everyone understood what she explained.
"I don't think there's any need for further explanation, but If you've doubts, now's the time," She asked, looking at some students who looked confused. They must be doubting what they heard. 100,000 points. It wasn't a small amount by any means, after all.
Although students might've had their own doubts, they couldn't fight back and win against the excitement they were feeling after believing that they'll be receiving 100,000 points every month.
I didn't feel anything like that, but I'm not going through the trouble of asking her my doubts when I didn't even know if she was someone who could answer me back.
