notes:
I've never written a fanfic before so sorry if it isn't the best.
This is set after Something to Share and doesn't completely follow the canon (the Lucy situation isn't mentioned) but it's pretty close

The Captain's program about tanks had finished hours ago but he was still sat in the same place, staring at the wall behind the screen. The TV was still playing but the Captain had long-since stopped listening. He didn't know, or at least didn't want to acknowledge, what it was but something in the documentary had awoken memories he thought he'd succeeded in burying. Memories of love and heartbreak, memories he couldn't let anyone see unless he were to risk his career, his reputation and - quite possibly - his life. He was well practiced in ignoring his feeling, it was over a hundred years since feelings that could cost him his life had first surfaced. Over a hundred years of hiding who he really was and how he really felt. And yet he'd been going to tell them, whether he was genuinely going to follow through with it he would never know for sure but he'd wanted to and that was a million miles of progress from doing everything he could to hide.
