We sat in the waiting room of the hospital, awaiting the test results. Daryl had his arm draped across my shoulders and I had my arms wrapped around my stomach. I was bouncing my leg up and down, making little squeaky sounds on the tile floor. Sully was pacing back and forth, and Beth was sitting across from me, watching every move her husband made.

She cleared her throat. "Mm." We all looked at her. "Sam, if this test does back positive, I want you to know that we will more than welcome you into our family. As Sully's daughter, and my, um-"

I raised my hand, stopping her. "Beth, all I want is to know who my parents are. I don't want money, I don't want anything. I don't expect anything." She nodded and smiled at me. Daryl leaned over and started massaging my shoulders. For several more minutes we sat in silence, each thinking about how the results could change the rest of our lives.

Finally, an older man with greying brown hair turned the corner, his doctors coat swaying with each step of his designer shoes. "Samantha Timmons?" I stood up quickly, my heart beating fast. "Yes?" He looked me over, then flipped through the papers on his clipboard. "The results of the DNA test came back positive. Sully O'Reilly is your father." He turned and walked away. I felt Daryl's hand on my left shoulder, and Sully's on my right.

I wasn't sure what to do. Should I jump for joy? Should I not say anything at all? How would life change now that i had a father? I stood there in silence until I heard a stifled cry behind me.

It was Sully. He had tears running down his face, and then it hit me. I had a father.

I wrapped my arms around him and Sullt wrapped his around me. His cries were buried in my shoulder, and mine were buried in his.

"Sam." he finally said. "I love you baby."

I felt more tears coming out of my eyes and running down my cheeks as I looked at Sully.

"I love you too Da-...." He warmly smiled at me and stepped back, wiping his eyes. Beth was at his side now, and Daryl was at mine.

"It's ok Sam. You don't have to call me anything. Ever. But, now that we know, I want you to know, and you too Daryl, that me and Beth," he looked down at his small wife who smiles warmly back at me, "that we're here for you. No matter what. And Sam, I just, I didn't know that you were even missing in my life, that you were my daughter, but now that I know, my heart feels like it's finally together. There was always a small part of me that was unfulfilled. Now I know why."

I nodded, swallowed back my tears, and looked at Daryl, unsure of what to do now. I looked at Beth, and she seemed to understand.

"Mm-hmm." she said, nodding at me, and then looking at Sully. "Well everyone. Why don't we all go home and let this sink in?" Everyone nodded and as we all began walking out to the parking lot. Beth pulled me aside.

"Samantha," I nodded, not sure where this was going. This certainly couldn't be easy for Beth, he'll she had just been given confirmation that he husband has a full grown daughter from a women he slept with when he was in school.

"I just want you to know sweetheart, I know i seem kind of, standoffish, maybe even cold, but it's not you honey." Her big brown eyes pleased with me, and I hugged her. She wiped away a tear, and then continued. "It's just, to all of a sudden find out that Sulky has a daughter, and that its you, and well. It's all just overwhelming. We have a new family dynamic, and we're not quite sure how things are gonna work from now on. Do we go to you house for Christmas? Do you come to ours? What about births-"
