While Dean wanted desperately to stay in his room he knew that one way or the other even if Crowley had told him to stay there, he was still going to drag his sorry ass to that stupid company. Not willing to risk it, he had gone to his job where he worked as a mechanic, he had arrived on the site where he had used his badge to get in and proceeded to the garage where he was busy working on one of the cars. Usually, working in the garage helped keep his mind clear from the amount of abuse he received. Dean made sure to keep his locket hidden under his shirt so that way Crowley wouldn't try to take it. He had done it before and locked it away in the safe. Though, Dean eventually found a way to get it back. Dean was so lost in thought that he hadn't heard Garth talking to him.
"What are you thinking about there man, you've checked that car at least six times," Garth said to him.
"Sorry," Dean said, snapping out of his thoughts. "Just... thinking,"
"Yeah, I noticed that, are you feeling okay?" Garth asked. "You've been zoning out lately," Dean stopped what he was doing and placed the engine piece down.
"I just.. Wish I could get out of that damn house," Dean answered. "I've been thinking about this locket for the past two days," he continued. "I can't shake this feeling that there's something more for me out there, maybe even a chance to get away from fucking Crowley,"
"Um Dean," Garth pointed at the figure moving through the garage. "I think you have a shadow,"
"What?" Dean said worriedly thinking that Crowley was behind him. "Tell me he's not behind me,"
"No, but there is a kid trying to come into the garage, should we ask him if he's lost?" Garth asked. He liked kids a lot but having one in the garage wasn't the best idea since most of these cars were broken. Dean turned to find the same kid he had run into at the grocery store, earlier he had been cranky since Crowley threatened him but he felt slightly calm now.
"Kid?" Dean said. "You aren't supposed to be back here, how did you get in?" Sam jumped and tried to hide.
"I'm not here," Sam lied. But of course, that didn't work as Dean had already seen him. "Okay, I'm here,"
"I kind of figured that," Dean responded and turned toward Garth. "Hey, Garth can you give me a minute,"
"Sure, don't mind me, I'm not here," Garth responded. "But I will keep a lookout for Crowley,"
"Thanks, man," Dean responded as Garth walked away, turning back to the kid Dean crossed his arms. "How the hell did you get in? My boss has security planted everywhere in this establishment,"
"Well it was challenging but I stole a pass and snuck in," Sam explained. "I just need to be here okay, I lost someone and I can find them here," he continued "I don't expect you to understand, you work for Crowley,"
"Your parents?" Dean questioned. "Kid I hate to be the one to tell you but the guy here, he sucks and he can easily have you thrown out in a heartbeat," he continued. "You wanna tell me your name?"
"Why you're a stranger, " Sam responded. "But considering the fact you work here anyway I'll tell you," he continued. "It's Sam,"
"You got a last name?" Dean asked however, Garth stepped back into the garage.
"Dean! Um I hate to tell you this but you might want to get that kid out of here," Garth warned. "Crowley is coming this way,"
"Wait who is... hey put me down, " Sam shrieked as Dean picked him up.
"Hush kid, no time for excuses," Dean responded, placing him in one of the cars. "Stay there and stay quiet, " he warned. Sam didn't understand but he listened to what Dean had said because Crowley had entered the garage at the same time Dean and Garth were busy pretending to be busy.
"Why do I hear more talking than working," Crowley said as his eyes landed immediately on Dean. Why always me. Dean thought to himself. "Dean. Are you talking or working?"
"Both sir I began talking to myself," Dean lied. Sam watched the scene from the car window and wondered if he should intervene. "You know how working in the heat can be," he continued. Sam poked his head out from hiding so much as Crowley turned away briefly to look at one of the car parts. Dean inched toward the car and made a gesture for Sam to hide at the same time Crowley turned back around to see Dean had gotten closer to the car. Crowley looked at Dean suspiciously.
"Garth, please leave us, go on your break," Crowley said. "I'd like a word with Dean,"
"Yes sir whatever you say, sir," Garth responded. He gave his friend a sad glance before leaving hoping that nothing bad would happen once he was gone. Once Garth was gone he turned back to Dean.
"You seem nervous, boy," Crowley said. "There something you want to tell me? Have you by any chance seen a fifteen-year-old boy running around here?"
"Nope no teenagers in here, why would they come here anyway? Only adults work here," Dean lied. His words still didn't have Crowley convinced but Dean kept trying, he had to get the guy off his back. "Trust me no teenagers in here and if you want you can ask around," Crowley frowned at Dean as he grabbed Dean by the wrist and quickly twisted it pressing his arm between his shoulder blades.
"Dean, you know how I feel about lying," Crowley warned. "If you don't tell me the truth, you know what's going to happen," Sam couldn't watch anymore. He got out of the car despite his fear of getting caught and shouted at Crowley.
"Hey, Mr. Scottish accent leave him alone!" Sam yelled. Crowley let Dean go who had started to pant, which wasn't good either considering it just proved to Crowley that he had lied to him.
"There you are!" Crowley said. "Security!" immediately security stepped into the garage. "Get this kid out of here!" Sam ran for it and didn't look back. That was a risky move and he knew it but no way was he going to let someone else get hurt. Especially when he could stop, he couldn't dwell on his thoughts now even if he overheard the name Dean. The only thing he could think about was escaping, while he couldn't outrun the security guards he managed to outthink them. He kicked one of his shoes down the opposite hallway as he raced towards the exit and the security guards fell from his trick. Hopefully, he would be able to get home with only one shoe, he also hoped that Dean would be okay. Crowley had been hurting him badly and if this Dean was his brother then Crowley had to pay.
