I woke to the blaring of my alarm unable to breathe indicating to me I'm sick or close to it. I groaned searching for my alarm, the sun blinding me as it shined through my bedroom blinds. My fingers danced with the buttons till I hit the snooze ending the accused blaring. I looked down at my (f/c) sheets to see them wet from sweat the nightmares have only worsened since the last doctor's appointment. I sighed feeling gross drenched in my own fluids so off I went rolling out of bed heading to the bathroom to shower. I sighed feeling the hot water wash the nasty off me and rinse off the bad thoughts that plagued me. I never wanted to leave but knew i needed to get ready for work, i was a waitress at a local cafe. (I'm not creative enough to think of a name) I stepped out of the shower grabbing some towels to dry myself before rummaging through my closet for my uniform. We dressed up like the maids which i didn't mind if the creeps would stay away. I didn't have a car and would rather die than be seen walking around in my uniform so I usually stuck it in my backpack to change into later. I double-checked on my fingers everything I needed before grabbing my keys and exiting my flat locking the door behind me. No need to get robbed. I thought my parents always joked about my paranoia growing up but I have yet to get broken into. I raced down the stairs as i lived on the 3rd floor. I said hello to my elder neighbor who usually feeds the stray cats the complex has due to tenants abandoning pets once moved. I made sure my backpack was secured before putting my ear buds in jamming to my (f/s) as i walked the busy streets. Cars passed as people walked it was like every other day in down town Ebott but now monsters in the mix. I noticed most humans stuck to their side of the sidewalk and avoided the few monsters roaming down town but that didnt portray to me so i stuck my nose out of that business.

I was out of breath by the time i got to my job having ran the last mile to make it on time. I waved to JP who usually clocks me in when i arrive so i can change before disappearing into the back dropping my bag onto the bench we had in the back between the lockers. I quickly pulled my uniform out and raced to the bathroom to change as i heard JP waiting tables. Now due to the name you might think JP was a guy but /she/ actually isnt, she just hates her name. Back when i first started the job i asked her what her pronouns were just in case she was non binary but she was up front about hating her name. I raced out of the bathroom helping take over tables as JP went on break, she usually opened so she's been here for a while. I was too focused on waiting tables. I didnt feel a pair of eyes waiting for me as I worked from the glass window. When I did look up there wasnt anyone staring so I brushed the feeling off and went back to zoning the creeps out and finishing my shift. I checked the clock and signalled to JP i was going on break the first four hours having rushed passed. I sighed when I reached the back and sat at one of the scattered tables rubbing the back of my neck. My body was screaming in agony having to work on uneven floors, clean up messes, do all the heavy lifting, between the two of us, JP and I, i was stronger so i usually picked up the slack carrying things. I reached for my bag i left out rummaging for my phone before finding the device. I checked my messages and flipped through social media as i sat and waited till an angry JP came busting through the break room door.

"I've about had it with these creeps! First segregation all over again and now banning monsters from stores! I've had it!" JP exclaimed which i should also add is African American so when the riots and bills to banish the monsters once more started she was one of the first up in arms over it.

"Hold on, what you mean banning monsters?" I asked with a head tilt making JP relax a bit.

"We are to no longer serve monsters and are to turn them away. Can you believe it?!" JP was practically fuming her chocolate cheeks a dash of a pink from rage.

"JP, honey, we're so far up town i doubt they'll be a change but im with you hun. Why are they treated this way for just existing?" JP looked into my (e/c) eyes searching for a spark of lying or deceit before letting out a loud huff.
