There was a time when the world forgot about the monsters and sins our ancestors committed but soon history began showing itself once again, unwanted children started going missing only to reappear with no soul. Many do not know of souls and believe only our heart is what keeps us alive. The history of both monsters and souls have long been forgotten so many were fearful as to why a mountain took these helpless souls only to spit them back up with no souls. It wasn't till recently that history was finally exposed when monsters soon roamed the land once more, ever still hated by humankind.
Tension ran high between the kinds and just like the true monsters the humankind is, the monsters were shunned and frowned upon. Unlike other humans, I was fascinated by monsters and our history with souls and the war so when I saw a small lone green fire elemental panicking during a rainstorm I knew what to do.
"Hello? Do you need help?" My voice was a bit timid sounding as I approached. The small fire elemental seemed to only panic more. I paused mid step to give them room as I looked them over. They looked like they were in high school with their school uniform still on, they were small and petite looking. White with green hues of fire made up their head and appendages their face dawned with two black dots for eyes. I was so fascinated by their appearance I didn't register their staring either till we both seemed to pull back to reality."Do you need help? I can help you out of the rain." The reminder they're out in the rain seemed to only throw them into another panic till I approached umbrella in hand. I wordlessly opened it above them making sure no water splashed their...skin? Flames? They seemed to be shocked and fascinated by the feet so I let them regain their composure as I watched the rain silently wondering why it always seemed to rain on good days. I felt a tug on my coat which drew me from my thoughts and back to the girl before me.
"Th-thank you. Do you think you could take me somewhere? I can lead the way." I couldn't help but laugh a bit at their cuteness but nodded in agreement either way. I felt their warmth as they took my hand nervously leading me along the way. I made sure to keep them under the umbrella even if I got wet in the process.
I was wet and shivering by the time we arrived at the little bar to which I was led to. I was a bit taken aback by how nice looking the building was, seeing as we were in the horrid back alley side of town where crime is normal and also where all the shunned monsters were forced to live. I took in the neon sign that read "Grillby's" as it buzzed to life meaning it must have just opened or finally got turned on. I was pulled from my thoughts as I felt a tug on a sleeve to which I gave in following the petite little green flame inside as she opened the door for me motioning to join her.
I rubbed my eyes a few times getting used to the changing of lighting compared to outside which was dark and muggy. I was practically blind when the scene started setting in and I found myself being held at "bone" point? I didn't dare make a move as sharpened edge bones rested against my neck drawing a bit of blood from my flinching at first glance. I didn't get a chance to speak or take in my surroundings as I felt my dry hand get tugged on pulling me back to the little fire elemental known as Fuku.
"Thank you, i appreciate the escort." The petite schoolgirl said with a smile or what i assumed was a smile as she didnt have a mouth. I gave a nod before heading her the umbrella knowing rain was in the forcast for a while. I didnt realize i was shaking till she took my hand with a worried look.
"I'm fine, humans just start to shake when they get cold. I got a bit wet during our walk so ill head home to get warmed up. Im glad i could be of aid." I gave a sheepish grin before jumping a bit as the bones vanished and my neck was released. I sighed feeling at the small cut that was made before giving the girl a wave about to head out when the bones appeared again keeping me from leaving.
"Let's have a chat buddy." I sheepishly turned hearing a deep voice Fixing my gaze on the bar seeing a glowing blue eye. I swallowed my saliva in hopes to wet my suddenly dry mouth as i approached the bones following close behind. I felt like i was going to be killed either way and i was to the point maybe dying would be better. The figure looked like they were going to speak again when a hunk of a bartender came out of nowhere smacking them across what i assume was their head causing the bones to disappear. I heard cracking like that of a fireplace and realized I was staring at another fire elemental but they were more mature, taller, and well built. I didn't get to take in more as Fuku shot past me causing me to focus on her once more.
"Daddy! I'm sorry for making you worry!" Fuku practically dove into the bartender's arms as she spoke, making things click for me. They were related and I called her dad a hunk. What is wrong with me? I was pulled from my thoughts when I felt tugging on my hand that was thankfully dry.
"You need to warm up, I can help," Fuku said, flashing me a smile before looking at my soaked clothes. I was about to protest but got hit by the infamous puppy dog eyes causing me to strip off my coat. I barely got the chance to ask what now when I was tackled into a hug, warmth blossoming over my body as I stared wide-eyed for a bit. I was slow to return the favor, a bit scared to hurt her with my soaked clothing but I was careful to keep her dry. I let out a sigh, my shaking starting to subside as warmth took hold in place of cold. It almost lulled me to sleep. I didn't pay attention to the noises around me as I let go of Fuku with a smile having warmed up enough to head home finally.
I gave her a wave quickly grabbing my soaked jacket before rushing out the door as I heard arguing at the bar. I didn't stick around to see why there was arguing now as I ran down the road glad to finally be free of that bar though I had to admit I really wouldn't mind seeing more of it though maybe not to be threatened this time. Till next time I thought as I headed straight for home hoping to not catch a cold from these soaked coats, Fuku's warmth slowly disappearing.
