Achara slowly opened her son's room door. Arthit was lying horizontally on the bed with his legs and hands spread wide. He was biting the end of the blanket and an arm and leg were sticking out from under his blanket. A small smile formed on her lips seeing how her son was sleeping.
Arthit was always a clingy child and he still was. Till now, it was a mystery to her how he stayed in the dorm alone for five years.
He used to sleep with his mother until he was ten, he never wanted to sleep alone. Then his mother wanted him to be a little more independent and learn to sleep alone just in case Arthit had to sleep away from the home in the future. She used to accompany him till he fell asleep. Even then, she found him outside her room for the first few days and had to carry him back to his room. Carrying little Arthit was never a big deal to her because he was small sized and always wanted to be carried, so she was used to it. Luckily, Arthit slowly got used to sleeping alone.
Achara sat down on the bed near Arthit and slowly caressed his hair. Feeling the presence Arthit shifted his head to his mother's lap and snuggled before sighing contentedly.
Achara chuckled at her son's behaviour. Arthit was still like a four year old toddler to her. He was too naive and gullible. That's why she didn’t want him to end up with the wrong person. Arthit was too precious to her. He was literally the sun of her life after her husband's death. She doesn't want this sun to face an eclipse.
Arthit groaned with his eyes closed and stretched his arms above his head. Arthit sighed before he slowly opened his eyes. Arthit smiled seeing his mother's face, first thing in the morning.
"Good morning Mae" Arthit said with his sleepy voice followed by a yawn.
"Did you sleep well baby?" Achara asked him.
"Hmm" Arthit humed while snuggling closer to her.
"Oon, Mae is sorry. Mae shouldn't have asked you to break up with your girlfriend so suddenly"
Arthit's eyes shot open and he jumped into the sitting position and beamed a beautiful smile to his mother. "Mae, which means you are ok with my relationship with my girlfriend? Are you ready to meet her?" Arthit asked excitedly.
"No Oon, Mae meant that you should take your time with your girlfriend. You don't have to break up with her in a rush. Mae won't urge you to break up with her and won't open the topic of your marriage until you break up with her and are ready to meet the girl Mae will choose for you."
"Mae things won't work like that Mae. You can't ask my heart to stop beating for someone I love and expect it to beat for someone else I don't love," Arthit said in a desperate voice.
"Oon, you are not the first person to love someone and marry someone else. You will learn to love your wife. You will have a lifetime for that. And what if she is not the one for you and the girl I choose for you is your real soulmate? What if everything is happening just to lead you to your soulmate and she is just a part of your life and not your life?" Achara replied, equally desperate.
Arthit just shook his head and stomped to the washroom. Achara helplessly looked at his retreating back and sighed in defeat.
Later in the evening, Arthit waited for Kat in their usual place. Arthit didn’t know how Kat was going to react to his plan. She would never say no to him, he was sure about that. She was exactly like his mother. Both were so protective and spoiled him a lot.
Arthit was in his final year of high school when he first met Kat. He was returning from buying pink milk from the canteen and she bumped into him, causing him to spill his precious pink milk. He was already late for class so he didn't have the time to buy another drink. He was so pissed with her that he wanted to do nothing but pull her ponytail. But he was too nice to do that so he angrily left the cafe, not before giving a death glare to the apologising Kat.
Later that day he met her again, this time she had been waiting for him outside his class whilst holding a cup of pink milk. That was how they started their friendship. It didn’t take too long for the friendship to turn into love.
On the last day of Arthit's high school, Kat proposed to him. Arthit didn’t even have to think twice before accepting her proposal. He was on cloud nine that whole night. He couldn't believe that his love had finally asked him to be her boyfriend.
He never regretted being with Kat. His friends were still wondering how Arthit made a girl like Kat fall for him. She was the best girlfriend anyone could ask for.
Arthit came out of his thoughts when he saw the person he was thinking about walk in his direction. She was no doubt a beautiful girl. But the white dress she was wearing made her more gorgeous. Kat took her seat in front of him. Arthit suddenly frowned and looked under the table. Then he lifted the menu and continued searching for something on the table.
"P'Arthit what are you doing? What are you looking for?" Kat asked him, confused.
"Your wings, angel," Arthit replied with a flirtatious smile.
"Pfttt hahahaha!"
Arthit frowned when he heard someone spitting out their water and laughing hard. Annoyed, Arthit looked to his left.
"Kongpob, what the hell are you doing here?"
