For some apparent reason, Crystal knew the way to the Fire Kingdom.
"I used to meet Blaze at the edge of the grass and rock every Saturday," she said dreamily, probably remembering those memories.
We reached the border, and Icy formed an ice barrier around Crystal and herself. Their bodies were frozen, but they could still see and fly, their wings peeking out of the ice.
So we made our way through the volcanic terrain. I saw fear linger for seconds at a time on Alex's face, while it was petrified onto Crystal and Icy. I'm sure my face wore a mask of worry, too.
I'd heard rumors that Blaze, the Fire Crown Heir, had been around a Forest boy I knew, Jack. I'm sure they weren't true, since Fire and Earth's rivalries have been nearly eternal. We aren't meant to be friends. Ever.
"Look!" Alex pointed the tip of her sword to a building from afar. I knew exactly what it was, even though I'd never seen it before.
The Fire Castle is pretty hard to miss. It looked exactly like the Water Castle, but while that Castle had waterfalls and fountains, this one had lava falls and torches lit aflame.
We were glad Icy's power was rare and strong, because the ice barely melted in the hot atmosphere. I could feel my dress clinging to my sweaty skin, and Alex was waving her hand at her face, fanning herself.
We slipped through a small opening in the drawbridge (which was made out of fire and was hanging over a most of lava) and entered the Throne Room.
Things were slightly cooler, or, as cool as it gets when you're in a room of fire. But I could see the Fire Family.
Crystal used sign language to transmit a question to them: "Where's Blaze?"
So I asked them.
"Blaze has decided to pick love over her kingdom. She is in the dungeons with the Forest boy. You may visit her, but you may not free her. Unless you would like the same circumstances."
The Fire King was a large, scary being. We didn't want to meddle with whatever sh!t he had going on unless absolutely necessary.
So we began the trek down to the dungeons to see Blaze.🔥〰🔥〰🔥〰🔥〰🔥〰🔥〰🔥
