Gossip filled the streets of Bournville, spreading like a wildfire across the town. Whispers of a once small gang rising up in the ranks trying to make their way into London and take over Darby Sabini. The gang, who went by the name of The Peaky Blinders, had been the talk of Birmingham for a couple years now and the people in Bournville worried they'd go against their protectors of their small home.

The Misfits were a group of people that stood out of society. They protected the people around them even if they were known as the outcasts. They took in anyone that needed help no matter what race, age, religion or sexuality, they didn't see a reason to hate people for how they were born.

The group all began with an old lady called Betty Owen. She took in all the children and raised them as her own. She was a nice women who had never been able to have children herself and didn't understand how a parent could neglect their own flesh and blood. She cared for them like her own and was the matriarch of the group that protected their home.

The Misfits consisted of children of all ages, the youngest being 8 and the oldest 27. Isaac Paterson, the first child Betty took in, was the leader of them at 26 years old. He was the boss of what happened within the Misfits and everything had to be reported back to him. He had been with Betty since he was just 3 years old having been abandoned by his mother. Isaac was a cold man who trusted very few, his trust having been demolished the minute his mother left him.

But there was one specific Misfit the gossip effected most and that was 17 year old Sebastian Gray. He had been apart of the group for two years now and had never looked back. His past being filled with misery and terror that no child should ever endure. Having been taken from his family a few days before his sixth birthday, Sebastian's life had taken a turn for the worst. Being in strange new places filled with horrible people changed the once carefree, loving child. He began to use his fists more than words and drowned himself in alcohol and drugs. Betty had taken him in when he was 15 and living on the streets as he had previously been kicked out of the school for misbehaved boys he had been in since he was 10 years old. This gossip was the final step the teen needed to be reunited with his true family after years of not being allowed back.

Sebastian ran through the streets, fists clenched tightly by his sides trying to keep his anger and nerves down. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. His family, the one he had been away from for just over a decade, were living in Small Heath still and had been for his whole life. He didn't know what to feel, the church he had first been placed in told him his family moved away after he was taken. He always called them liars but after awhile and many times of being told, the once 6 year old began to believe that his family had truly left Small Heath for good.

Barging through the front door of his home, he ran straight through the living room ignoring the other children, only having one destination in mind. The secure arms of Betty Owen wrapped round the boy as soon as he rushed into the kitchen. She had heard some women talking in the market about the Peaky Blinders and specifically about Thomas Shelby. She remembered when Sebastian finally opened up to her about parts of his life and he mentioned his cousin, Tommy Shelby, quite a lot.
