four months later...
CATE POV
It's been 4 months since I last saw y/n. I called her multiple times, straight to voicemail, I sent letters to our apartment and later got a call from the landlord that no one has been in the apartment since we were last there. I stopped calling after 2 weeks of trying, I know that if y/n wants to come back she will do it when she wants, she's stubborn but that makes me love her more. Sandy has been living with me for about a two months since she and her husband are divorcing. I stare at my phone all day hoping she will call me back. This is all my fault. I get deep into my thoughts till "you can't stare at your phone all day Cate, why don't we go down to the beach and relax", sandy said. I nodded and said I know, I know, fine lets go. I go and grab my swimsuit and put a dress cover over it and walk with Sandy down the hill to the beach. I start to look for my phone and can't find it and then turn to Sandy she says she left it back at home and that she is tired of me looking at the phone all day. I guess she's right, I need to relax a bit. We've been laying on the sand for a couple hours, occasionally going into the water. It is now later and the sun is going down. We decided that we will eat at a nice restaurant tonight and we go change. I put on something casual but nice.
(This is what they wear)
At the restaurant
We were put outside out of the restaurant looking out onto the bright and busy streets. Seeing children and happy couples walking around made me a bit sad, but I promised Sandy I would not ruin the mood tonight and forget about when y/n will come back, if she comes back..We order a nice bottle of wine and tag it along with just a classic margherita pizza. Sandy and I just laugh talking about the old days and funny things that have happened then suddenly Sandy's face changes to a bit more serious and looks down at the table.
Sandy: Cate honey, I know we said we are not going to talk about y/n tonight but now I'm getting a bit worried. It's been four months and no word from her.
Cate:*sighs* I know, I'm worried also. Last time we were away from each other it ruined me and her. I understand a week or two but four months! ugh sandy I think she left me for good. *chugs her glass of wine*
Sandy: Cate slow down honey.
Cate: sorry
Sandy: y/n loves yo-
Cate: how do you know because I sure as hell don't think she does anymore.
Sandy: y/n loves you and I know she will come back. hell maybe she never even left Italy and still here.
Cate: I need her back Sandy. I love her
Cate and Sandy continue talking trying to figure out where y/n could've gone. A taxi passes by and stops by the market near by and someone comes out the car. Cate turns around to see the taxi and turns her head away continuing to talk with sandy.
