3 months had passed since Carter arrived. The month after them, three boys showed up, names Minho, Newt and Clint. Newt and Jesse immediately disliked each other. It was something about the way he smirked and carried himself that didn't mesh well with Jesse and she found him extremely annoying and cocky. "Oi spitfire! Sorry to interrupt but I think you forgot something!" Newt shouted as he held Jesse's bra in the air, making Clint laugh. Minho looked over at Jesse in fear of what his best friend was about to do. "You slinthead! Give it back!" She said authoritatively, walking over to him. "Or what darling?" he hummed as he looked down at her small frame. "You know I control your job right? I'm second in command," she said as she held out her hand. Jeff nudged the older boy in the shoulder, telling him to give Jesse her bra back. The blonde rolled his eyes and dropped the garment into Jesse's outstretched hand. "You know, it's only a coincidence that you came up 2nd, that doesn't mean you're entitled to anything. You're only second in command out of luck," Newt said. "Shut up," is all the ginger had to say to shut him down. She walked back over to Minho who was just laughing. "What?" She asked. "Nothing, nothing, just... he's so cute," the boy smiled. "No, no, absolutely not. If you fuck my arch enemy I will kill you, got it?" Jesse warned, although she couldn't help the smile from creeping onto her face. "Hey, whatever happens, happens darling," Minho said, trying to impersonate Newt's peculiar accent in the last word. Jesse shook her head.

The month after them, another group of boys, Gally, Zart and Siggy. "Siggy?" Carter had asked him. "W-well yeah that's what I remember," he muttered, still confused. As time went on, the gladers realised Siggy was an excellent cook so they decided he would take Jesse's position as the chef of the Glade. And since he hated his name more than anyone else, Gally coined the nickname 'Frypan'. Gally and Carter did not get along at all. It was hatred at first sight. The amount of fights between them that Jesse needed to break up was unbelievable. "He fucking hit me!" Carter screamed as Jesse wrapped their arms around their waist trying to hold them back from swinging at Gally. "And hitting him back won't solve anything," Jesse said. "Exactly, so stop struggling damsel," Gally spat in a condescending tone. "You know what? One swing," Jesse smirked as she let go of Carter, allowing her to throw one solid punch into Gally's large nose. "Now both of you in the pit for one night and no food," Alby said as he looked between the two. These two are the reason the pit got invented. Gally stormed off and Alby sent Carter an apologetic look. Jesse looked between them, fully aware of the fact that Alby would sneak her a plate later on tonight.

So far, there was a developed kitchen where Fry spent most of his time, a garden which Zart ran and Carter worked in, Jesse and Minho were Slicers who raised the animals for meat, milk and eggs in the Blood House, Newt (when he felt like it) helped out in the garden, Clint worked in a small hut as a med-jack, Gally was the builder and the bricknick and Alby basically monitored everything and everyone. Gally helped expand the homestead where the hammocks were, he helped build the med-shack and he even gave Fry some renovations for his kitchen. They'd even started making up their own words. The Glade was starting to look pretty good and everything was fairly organised. By the time Box Day came around everyone was ready to meet the newest group of boys. Except it wasn't a group of boys, it was a single girl and she looked terrified. Everyone separated so Jesse could come and greet the newest addition to the Glade, or what they called, the Greenie. "Hey, it's alright, I'm Jesse. You're safe," the ginger girl smiled as she helped the taller girl up from her seated position on the metal floor of the Box. "Do you remember your name Greenie?" Gally asked sternly, sounding frustrated that this was keeping him from his work. "Easy," Jesse warned, forcing Gally to quickly step back behind Clint and stand in silence. "Bluebell," she said. "It's lovely to meet you, welcome to the Glade," Jesse smiled. the tour went just as everyone else's did. Blue was then taken in by Fry who was getting her something to eat. As Jesse rejoined Minho at the Blood House she noticed his eyes wandering to the new girl. "Minho, the girls been here for 3 hours, give her a minute before you go drooling all over her," Jesse chuckled as she sharpened her knife. "Wha- I wasn't- shut up Jesse," Minho said, blushing like crazy. "Plus, it seems as though our dear cook also has eyes for the Greenbean," Jesse said, pointing at the way Fry was propped up on his elbows talking to Bluebell, gazing into her eyes dreamily. "I don't care because I don't have a crush on the Greenie," Minho huffed, going to retrieve a chicken. Jesse just chuckled and shook her head.

Suddenly Carter came running in. "Jesse! Alby wants to call a meeting!" the gardener said, trying to catch her breath. "Oh okay, help me round everyone up," Jesse said, taking off her apron and walking into the open glade. "Meeting! Everyone in the Homestead in 5 minutes!" she shouted, causing everyone to start dropping their things and making their way over to the Homestead.

Once the meeting began, Jesse was propped against a post while Alby spoke to the Gladers who were all sitting down. "Firstly, welcome to the new greenie," Alby said looking towards Bluebell. "Next, I have decided we will be testing the newest Greenies in every job until we find out what's best fit for them, Bluebell, you will be in the garden with Zart and Carter tomorrow as a Track-Hoe. Now I have also decided something else. This may be a bit more controversial but I have decided, starting tomorrow, there will be a new job. Called a Runner. The Runners will go in through the doors when they open in the morning and make their way back before the doors close," the Gladers erupted in conversation, some crying out in fear and some cheering. Jesse had stood up straight at the mention of the doors. "Listen!" Alby shouted, getting their attention back. "We need to figure out what's out there so starting tomorrow, Jesse, Newt and Minho, you three will head out in the morning," Alby said looking over at his Second in Command. "I believe in you kid," he said lightly, so only she could hear. The ginger mouthed thank you before Minho got up and hugged her. Newt and Carter shared a look of fear. They'd both always been afraid of those doors and the last thing Newt wanted was to go in there.

"Alby why me?" Newt asked after everyone else had left. Jesse and Minho stood nearby. "Because you three are the fastest we have, and if something strange is out there I need to know you'll be able to make it back," Alby said. Jesse looked at Newt as he fidgeted with his long fingers, she could feel the anxiety radiating off of him. He noticed her face softening so then he turned to her, trying to shut down the sympathy as soon as possible. "So I have to spend every day with her? Seriously? What did I ever do to you Alby? It's not like she's fast," Newt scoffed, staring her dead in the eyes. Jesse's ears flushed red with anger and she tensed her face back up. "I'm faster than you, and to me that's all that matters," she smiled sarcastically. "No, you three stick together, no one left behind. Got it?" Alby asked. Minho and Newt nodded and Alby stared at Jesse who was still glaring at the blonde in front of her. "Jesse," Alby stated. "Yes Alby," she said, not pulling her eyes away from Newt. "Off to bed, I have to go lock up Carter and Gally. You three have a big day tomorrow," Alby said leaving the Homestead. Newt walked out first, turning around and winking at Jesse before leaving to go to his hammock. Jesse grunted in anger, making Minho chuckle and kiss her on the cheek. "G'night Jesse," he said heading off to bed. Jesse did her quick rounds, making sure everyone was in bed, everyone had enough blankets and no one needed anything before she herself went to bed.
