(Spyro's POV)
After Malefor's defeat, the entire world of dragons was rebuilt to its normal state, or well, almost everything, as some parts of the world had been left floating as a result. As for Spyro and Cynder, they returned safely from the painful battle against Malefor. They met with the people of Warfang, the Guardians, and Sparx, bringing them the news of their victory and the sad news of Ignitus' sacrifice.
A week had already passed since those events. However, the reconstruction of the city was still continuing and also in the new dragon temple. One day, Spyro and Cynder were on an air-ride enjoying the post-war peace. They decided to leave discreetly so that Sparx wouldn't bother them. In addition, they brought two baskets to bring gems.
After a long time, Spyro gazed delightedly at Cynder as she flew in front of him: he was sure that the voice he heard say 'I love you' before restoring the world had been hers. As he watched her rise in front of him, he couldn't help but admire her. She really was beautiful, and he really liked her. But the question was: could he express it to her?
"Spyro, what are you thinking about?" Cynder's words woke him from his questioning.
"It's... nothing. I was just thinking how calm everything looks after what we've been through. It seems like a dream come true," Spyro replied.
"You're right. Things appear to be going better than they have in the past, and the city's reconstruction will be completed soon"
"I just hope there are no more problems. The war almost ended the world. "
"If there are, you know I'll always be there to help you." Spyro's heart was touched with those words, "How about we spend the night here before we return?"
"I'm sure Sparx would complain later. Okay, I think I see a pretty wide area down there. Come on. "
They both went down with some pirouettes and came to a clearing in the forest, much like the Avalar valley. Nearby, there was a stream to quench the thirst of the young dragons. Some birds sang in the treetops, the wind was calm, and there was an atmosphere of great peace.
"What a beautiful environment!" Cynder exclaimed.
After drinking, Spyro went hunting and returned with a couple of captured rabbits. Then, he built a fire and lit it with his firepower.
Little by little, the afternoon was falling, and the sky then began to take an orange hue, as they cooked and ate. From afar, you could see how the last rays of sunlight bathed the Valley of Avalar and reflected on the city of Warfang.
Cynder laid her head on Spyro's shoulder, and he gently stroked his back with his paw. The couple stayed like this until the sun went down. After a while, admiring the night and the stars, they fell asleep.
Spyro woke up later that night from a restless sleep. Everything was still peaceful: the stars, the sky, the air, absolutely everything. He decided to drink a little more water. As he did so, he began to reflect: what had awakened him was not worry or a nightmare, but rather nostalgia; They had won the war, but at a very painful cost: Ignitus, their master, the guardian of fire and the dragon that he cared for him as a father, had given his life to help them break through the belt of fire and allow them to reach Malefor.
Spyro was terribly affected at that moment. Could there really have been no other way? Something inside him told him no. He turned to the stream, looking at his reflection. Ignitus was the first dragon he met. He was the one who showed him who he was, trained him, and taught him to fly. It was the closest thing he had to a father...
A tear of sadness ran down her face. Although he had overcome all the great dangers of Malefor, he still felt very sorry that he had not been able to stop his resurgence. That way, perhaps Ignitus should not have sacrificed himself. Suddenly, someone hugged Spyro: he turned and saw Cynder, who had approached very silently.
"Spyro, are you okay?" Cynder said.
"Yes, I'm fine," he said, trying to hide his tears.
"You miss Ignitus, don't you?"
"Yes, quite..."
"Me too, Spyro. I know that the loss of Ignitus was very great, I appreciated him because he always trusted me, despite what I did," she said, "But you must understand that he did it for us."
"I know, but I wish there had been another way. Maybe..." Spyro began.
"Thinking about a maybe will not solve anything from the past. We must concentrate on what he wanted us to achieve: peace. So, we must maintain the good of this new era, to avoid further losses. "
"I promise I'll give it a try, Cynder," Spyro said, wiping his tears a little.
As they spoke, the moon shone and covered the clearing with its beautiful and reassuring light, Spyro looked back at Cynder and saw a reflection of moonlight shining in her blue eyes.
"You know something? "Your green eyes look very beautiful in the moonlight," Spyro confessed.
Cynder blushed.
"Do you really believe it?"
"Yes, when we met for the first time, I saw a familiarity in your eyes. Ignitus explained to me that it was because we were from the same group, but now that I see it better, you also have beautiful eyes. By the way, thanks for being with me at various times, Cynder. "
"Don't worry. I always will be. "
Then they fell asleep again. Spyro still missed Ignitus, but now he felt somewhat calmer thanks to Cynder. Without her, his dark side probably couldn't have been stopped when Ignitus died. He was happy to have her as a companion and as a friend.
Now everything had returned to normal, but they would still need a new fire guardian. He knew that there was no one who could replace Ignitus, but to maintain order, the four guardians would have to meet again.
"I'm glad to know that everything will be fine. With peace, the dragons that were lost during the war will return. How many more will have survived? Will I ever find my parents? And, will Cynder have them too? " Spyro thought.
With many unanswered questions, our young dragon fell into a slow sleep.
