Chapter: 2 This Old Town

I woke up with an announcement made that we were now landing in Ireland. I quickly wore my seatbelt. As the plane landed I got more excited to see my parents. I got out of the plane and got my luggage. As I got out of the airport, I saw Greg.

Greg: "Hey, Niall! Over, here" He said, waving his hands.

Niall: "Hey, Greg. It's so nice to see you. How have you been" I said, hugging him. I have never been away from him for so long. It's so nice to meet him after a long time.

Greg: "I am good. What about you?"

Niall: "I am good too."

Greg: "Ok. We should go now. You must be tired."

Niall: "A little bit."

We got in his car, and he started driving to our house. I missed Mullingar so much.

Greg: "I have a little surprise for you."

Niall: "Really? What is it?"

Greg: "Uh. Well, do you remember Clare?"

Niall: "Yeah."

Greg: "She introduced her elder cousin to me once when you were gone, and I started having feelings for her. We dated for a while, and last month I proposed to her to marry me, and guess what?"

Niall: "What?"

Greg: "She said "Yes," and our wedding is in two weeks."

Niall: "Wow! Congratulations, man. I am so happy for you."

Greg: "Thanks"

Niall: "So, what's her name?"

Greg: "Her name is Denise."

Niall: "Oh. So, have you decided your best man?"

Greg: "Yeah."

Niall: "Who is it?" I asked in anticipation

Greg: "Of course, it's you, Niall."

Niall: "Really? Thanks, man"

I was happy for my brother, and everything he just said started playing in my head all over again. Just then I realized he said she is Clare's cousin. Wait. Is she also going to be there?

Niall: "Greg, Will Clare also be there at you and Denise's wedding."

Greg: "Of course, yes, Niall. After all, it's her cousin's wedding."

But I'm not ready to face her after all what I've done to her.

Niall: "How is she now? It's been so long since I met her."

When I introduced her to Greg. He was really happy. He always treated Clare as his little sister. He never talked to me about her after we broke up, but I knew they have always been in contact. Clare was not only on good terms with Greg, but everyone in my family liked her. They knew she was the one for me, but I let everyone down. I feel so guilty about it. I told my parents, and Greg the reason why I broke up with her, and they supported me. Thankfully.

Greg: "She's good. She was crushed when you broke up with her, but now she is doing fine." 

Niall: "You know I didn't mean any of that. I just wanted the best for her. I remember her every day and always regret my decision. I just want to fix everything between us and don't want this awkwardness between us."
