Chapter: 9 Things Never Change

FYI Clare and Niall were only 18 years old when they started dating in this book back in '10. They never moved in together. Clare stayed with Niall for a few days or sometimes Niall with Clare whenever their parents went on a vacation or something else. Also, Clare chose her mom. I gave you all hints back in chapter 7 where her mom mouthed, 'he's in the living room.' Congratulations to all those who guessed it correctly. I just wanted y'all to know these few things so that you won't get confused later. Enjoy reading the chapter :)

My hands reach down and grab him by the collar. I drag him into the bush and beat him down to the grass, the dirt, and the fallen tree branches. He didn't fight back, but I kept going, my fists cluttered on his face, and I put a hole in his stomach. My fist reached his nose, and when it collided, I saw it start bleeding, but that didn't stop me. I kept punching him on his stomach and saw some blood coming out from his mouth too. After a few punches, I stopped and let him fall to the ground, took a few steps back, and pulled him up by his collar. "Don't ever try to hurt Clare again, or I'll show you this show again," I whispered and pushed him back downwards.

I went back to my car and drove back to my house.

(Skip the car ride)

I opened the door to my house and went upstairs to my room. I was so tired, so I just lay in my bed, and before I knew it, I was asleep.

(Clare's POV)

My eyes opened when I heard the doorbell going off. I stood up from my bed and went towards the door to open it. I opened the door and saw the last person I wanted to see right now, the girl Nick cheated on me with. I was so confused. How did she know 'I live here?'

"What are you doing here?" I asked her. "I saw your address on Nick's phone. I want to tell you something. Can I come in?" I nodded and let her in, but now I regret it. She sat on the couch and looked up at me. "I am Amy, by the way." "I am Clare." she nodded. " I didn't know Nick already had a girlfriend when we both met, he flirted back to me, and he was the first one who asked me out...I broke up with him," she said. "It's alright, we both got cheated on, and I guess we both are together on this. Right?" I asked her. "Yeah, and I'm glad you sent your friend to teach Nick a lesson. He deserved it," she said, and I was confused. Which friend? Niall? "What? My friend? Who? I don't know about it."

 "You don't? When I went to Nick's house to break up with him, we were talking when his doorbell rang, and when he opened I don't know what happened, but when he returned he was all bruised," she said, but I was still confused. "Do you know who hit Nick?" "Yeah. I don't know his name, but he had blonde hair and blue eyes," she said, and I now know who did this. Niall. He did it even though I told him not to go around Nick! I am going to confront him later. I nodded, and she stood up. "Well, I am gonna take a leave. You take care of yourself. Are we friends now?" I nodded, and she smiled. She walked towards the door and left.

I was still shocked, and it looked like everything around me paused. After a while, I stood up from my place and went straight to my car. I drove to Niall's house.

(Skip the car ride)

I rang the doorbell, and Greg opened it. I was so angry at that moment that I didn't even say 'Hi' to him. I went upstairs and banged the door to Niall's bedroom. He opened it, and I straight away slapped him.

(Niall's POV)

I heard a loud bang on my door, so I quickly opened it. I saw Clare standing there, and before I could say anything, she slapped me. I was so confused at that moment. "That hurts." I thought and brought one of my hands to my left cheek, where she just slapped me. I furrowed my eyebrows, and she spoke. "Why the hell would you go to hit Nick when I told you not to. It just explains that you don't respect my opinions." "It's not like that Clare, he deserved it. He cheated on you. I can't handle it when someone breaks your heart." 

"Then you should also be punished. You also broke my heart. Should I ask Greg to teach you a lesson, too?" "But, I had a reason, Clare, and I didn't at least cheat on you!" "I don't like you being aggressive." "I don't like it either, but I gotta do it for you, Clare. I am sorry for disrespecting you." "It's Okay," She said, and I had a smile on my face. "How did you know what happened between 'me and Nick'?" "Amy, the girl who Nick cheated on me with, actually he cheated on her too, she told me." "Oh." I gestured her to come inside, and she sat on the bed.

"Why did you break up with me, Niall?" she asked, and my heart shattered into millions of pieces. I never told her the reason as I thought it would hurt her "I should tell her." I thought.

(Flashback)

We were in a pub, and Clare was on the dancing floor, the music was loud, and I was drinking a drink. I told the bartender my order, and he got one for me. I took the glass and turned around and saw Clare, but a guy suddenly approached her. He tapped on her shoulder, and she turned around. The guy had a smirk on his face, but Clare looked confused. She looked around, and when I realized she was looking for me, I stood up from my place and walked over to them. I pushed the guy to the ground, and I took a last glance at Clare before taking the shit out of the guy. I grabbed him by the collar hit him in the nose, and punched him twice or thrice in his stomach. Clare held me by my arm, and I was taken back. She looked worried and scared as everyone had their eyes on us. I looked back at the guy and mouthed, 'Stay away from my girlfriend.'

We both walked outside the pub. "What the hell was that Niall?" she said, and I was confused. "I thought when you were looking around for me so I can teach the guy a lesson." "I was looking around for you, so you can come over to me and handle it politely not, aggressively. You never understand." "I am sorry, Clare. I would never do that again. I think the alcohol got in me, and I messed up. Please, don't leave me." I said, and she started laughing. "Who said I am going to leave you?" "I thought you would break up with me because I am too aggressive." I told her the truth, "Niall, if someone has flaws, we don't break the relationship. We stand by their side and help them overcome their flaw, and those who leave aren't the real ones. They're fake and are here for you for their own sake. I'll be here for you and will help you get over your aggressive behavior." she said, and I nodded " Thank you, Clare. I love you so much." "I love you too, Ni," she said, and we shared a kiss.

(Flashback over)
