Ashley POV
I woke up, my head aching,
I missed something, what was it? Jace. My subconscious mind was at it again, but the name didn’t seem to come from there it came from somewhere else, something was pulling me towards him.
Ashley? Ashley are you okay? Chloe’s voice thought, telepathic thing raced through my head. Ashley you better answer speak out loud or something or I swear to-
You okay? That was the first time he talked in my brain. He had drowned Chloe’s voice out. Was I going insane? No one drowned out Chloe when she was in my head. No one . . . well I can’t say that but he was louder and more clear than Chloe's voice, louder than any voice that had ever been in my head, no matter how loud she had yelled at me. I can’t really say it was louder either, it was more like my head was a radio and it was tuned perfectly in to Jace.
I felt my head for a bump, instead I felt a band aid, it was surprisingly small to be honest. I figured I would've been put into chains or something. I sat up and automatically felt light headed and waited till Chloe's face stopped swirling in and out of my vision. Then my eyes found him, leaning against a giant oak tree 50 feet away, Jace. I swooned
"Hey Speedy, you're finally awake." He chuckled. Not even attempting to hide a smile. There was something behind it. Guilt?
"Shut up, Jace, she's only been out for 10 minutes, quit complaining. " Chloe who was examining my head snapped at him, growled even. "You didn't need to have me knock her out, she would have come anyway I told you, we, I mean, you didn't have kidnap her-"
"What!?!" I looked at Chloe, who was glaring at, Jace. I struggled to get up, but chloe stopped me. "Let me up, " I whined, "Please," I gave her my best puppy eyes and she started laughing.
"Fine, get up. But I'm laughing when you fall again," She chuckled. As she took my arm and helped me up I looked around we were on the edge of a recluse meadow. I have to admit this was one of the prettiest things I've ever seen. It made me think of Kira, who I wouldn't see in forever. Stop that, I mentally slapped myself, think of something else, think of. . .Jace. Yes, the perfect distraction. A small smile left my lips when I thought of him.
"Chloe, let go, I won't fall, If I do you can laugh, I don't care," She let go of my arm, suppressing a smile. I looked at Jace with a fake seriousness on my face. "What does she mean, kidnap?" I slowly started to approach him, even growling slightly for effect.
"Well, uh, you see Ash, we, uh, got to tell you, um, something, and I didn't want to ah-" Chloe cut him off, he was nervous haha.
"You're about to get your ass beat Jace," She snickered.
"Shut up Chloe," He snapped before continuing, he never took his eyes off of me, was that longing I saw there as I examined his face? No, I'm just delusional. "Well we got to tell you something, and, uh, I didn't want to have to worry about, uh, you not wanting to come, or uh running away-"
"What?" It was like it was just me and him. Me and Jace. Jace and me. Jace and Ashley. I like the sound of it. Ashley and Jaaace sitting in a treeeee k-i-s-s-i-n-g... Damn Chloe; she sang through my mind. How she could tell what I was thinking even when I wasn't talking to her? I don't know, I'd have to ask her how she did that. Shut up Chloe don't give me away. This should be funny.
Be really funny if you'd kick his ass. She replied.
Just let him think that, kay? I thought as overly sweet and dripping with sarcasm as much as I could. "What makes you think I'd run away?" I said in the same voice I'd used in my head. He looked scared but he was trying to hide it, he was doing a really good job of it too. I almost didn't catch the desperate look that flashed through his eyes.
“Well, I uh, figured you, wouldn’t?” He looked at the ground and ran a hand through his hair. I give you three and only three seconds to run. I thought telepathically to him. He looked up at me. “Only three?” He was acting all tough and stubborn. One. “Okay I get it, I get it, I’m going,” Two.He turned and dived shifting and running without a pause. It was graceful and sexy at the same time. Three. I imitated his dive only I didn’t shift fast enough causing me to do a somersault while shifting,I felt a slight burn as I shifted I hoped that was at least half as graceful as his. That was beautiful. Jace whispered in my head. I hoped he was listening for what I said next maybe anticipating it;
Ready or not, here I come.
