Ambivalent Promises

Chapter 1

"Jungkook can you please hurry up and get ready? We are getting late for the event." jungkook heard his Beta father yelling from the living room. "Yes father." with no interest in going to the event jungkook got up slowly and started getting ready for the event because he cant upset his father. He respects his father too much for it. After all after his mother died his father was the only one who raised him alone without anyone's support.

Everyone in the pack thought jungkook will present as an alpha or atleast a beta but when jungkook presented as an omega he was so frustrated that he stopped going out of the house but his father was there to support him and make him understand that there is nothing wrong with being an omega. "Your mother was an omega herself so does that mean she was less important in any way than alphas and betas?" his father had asked and that was the one thing that was stuck in his head and from that day jungkook was proud of being an omega. But he still don't like going in the pack events. He hate all the alpha smells lingering in the air around the pack grounds. His father never insists him to go on events like this but this time he insisted that there was a friend of his coming from the other pack and he wanted jungkook to meet him and his family. So jungkook agreed.

"Father I am just going to the event to meet that friend of yours, after that I wont stay for a minute longer. You know i hate all the mixed smells of alphas in the air in the gatherings like this." he pouted. "Of course my beautiful son, I wont stop you from going back after meeting them."

They reached the pack grounds. Today was the day when all the nearby packs gather together to bond with each other more. Many neighbouring pack members came to this event as the chances for finding an eligible mate were increased like this. Everyone was dressed their best but Jungkook never felt the need to dress up and look good. He didn't liked attention anyway so he was just in plain grey robe made of the animal skin which his father got him from the hunt. He didn't even bothered to wear jewelry. But he still looked gorgeous. And that caught an eye of someone. He was as beautiful as Jungkook with the sharp jawline and ocean blue eyes which were as deep as ocean. Their eyes met and he smiled at Jungkook with his pretty smile which reached his eyes but Jungkook turned away somewhat flustered but more irritated. 'Why is that omega staring at me ? Does he think of me as an alpha or what?' Jungkook thought. He was about to go to his father when his father came towards him with few more people.

"Jungkook meet him he is Mr.Park, pack alpha of Mystic pride and the friend I was talking about." Jungkook bowed at 90 degree angle to show his respect to his father's friend. "Hello Mr.Park!! Its so nice to finally meet you." Jungkook showed his nicest smile to his father's friend. He smiled back and introduced his mate and son. "Its nice to meet you too Jungkook ur father talks alot about you. Meet my mate and my son Park Jimin" As soon as he introduced his son a short boy came in view from behind his father and it struck him that the omega he saw a few minutes ago was his father's friend's son. "Well hello Mr.Jeon, long time no see. I hope you are doing well " he bowed and shaked Mr.Jeon's hand. The high pitched voice made jungkook believe even more that he is an omega. In the gatherings like this the scents are mixed in the air so as long as you are not in the very close proximity with that person you wont be able to get the clear idea of the other's subgender. So jungkook assumed that jimin is an omega too. His train of thoughts came to a halt when his father touched his shoulder. "Jungkook why don't you show jimin the surroundings. I assume he would get bored with our old people talk." Jungkook nodded his head and lead jimin to the open grounds.

"Hi jungkook. Its nice to meet such a beautiful person.I hope we can be good friends in future." Jimin said turning to face Jungkook and Jungkook noticed a faint blush on jimin's cheeks. "Listen Jimin I am not sure why you are so flustered but I think you have got a wrong idea I am an omega too, so don't misunderstand me for an alpha or beta if you are." Listening to jungkook jimin burst into a fit of laughter and was not able to balance himself so he leaned towards jungkook and that was when jungkook got to smell jimin. The unique earthy combination of sandalwood and rosewood flodded jungkook's nostrils and jungkook froze there finally realizing that jimin was an alpha. And he realized it very late because now the alpha's scent was all over him. He pushed jimin off of his body and ran towards his house frustrated and irritated by the fact that his own lavender scent mixed so well with the alpha's scent. Jimin stood there confused as to what he did wrong to get this type of reaction from the omega.He shrugged and went towards his parents and told Mr.Jeon what happened. Mr.Jeon knew what was wrong with his son and also knew that he should leave him alone for sometime. So he assured the Park family that it was ok and jungkook will be ok after some time. They all agreed and continued with the event.

Once Jungkook reached home he changed out of his clothes and rubbed the scent off his body with tear filled eyes. That night he went to bed crying. Having the same nightmare that haunts him every night and scares him to death like it did for the first time.
