Eric's POV

And I said I was surprised before. I am now shocked. She comes from Abnegation, where they are meek and quiet, giving selflessly.

She's a stiff. Yet she was the first to jump. I'm just relieved that she made it off the train. But to be the first jumper? She didn't even show any emotion. She just took a step into the unknown. What is wrong with you Eric? You need to pull yourself together.

This initiation is going to be interesting, in more than one way.

I hear Four and the others at the bottom cheering Tris on. I want to be down there, roaring her name with the others. But that may seem suspicious. Hmmm.

"Okay. Who's next?". I pushed the thought out of my mind.

Tris' POV

As soon as the eight other initiates have jumped, the other instructor introduces himself as Four.

"What, like the number?" a rather large girl from Candor sneers.

"Exactly like the number. Got a problem?"

"What happened, 1, 2 and 3 were taken?"

Four walks up to her. "What's your name?"

"Molly" she whispers, scowling.

"Well, Molly. If you want to survive here, I suggest you keep your mouth shut"

That shut her up. I heard her talking with Peter, occasionally glaring at me. I don't like her.

"Now, initiates. You are to follow Eric through the hall right behind you to the dormitories, where you will be staying for the next few weeks. You are to change as quick as possible, and on the way to the dining hall, you will come across a burning furnace. This is where you will drop your old clothes from your former faction. You're dauntless now. Off you go"

We are taken down the dark, jagged stone walls of the corridor and turn right to a balcony with a view of a huge room with hundreds of dauntless.

"This is the pit" says Eric. "It's the centre of life here at Dauntless"

Wow. This place looks amazing.
