Tris' POV
I tune in to Christina's conversation with Al and another guy, who introduces himself as Will. He's from Erudite. As soon as I hear this, I am cautious, but then he reassures me that he's not one of the Erudites that hate Abnegation, like Jeanine Matthews. That bitch.
Suddenly, I feel something touch my right thigh. I check if anyone is looking, then I peer under the table. It's Eric's hand. I can't believe it. I thought he was more than that! My hand moves to slap his away, but then he leaves a note. Oh. OK, that puts things more in perspective now. He is more than that. Again, I check to see if anyone is looking, and I read the note. It says;
'Did you really think I would touch your leg? I wouldn't stoop that low. I don't even know you. Anyway, after dinner, and all the announcements, I need to talk to you.Meet me in the storage cupboard half way to your dorm.Be as quick as you can, before the others.
Eric
Great. I'm probably in trouble.
We quickly glance at each other, then he gets up to leave.
Soon after, Christina taps me.
" I see those looks, you know." She comments.
"What looks?" I play dumb.
"You should know that I can tell when someone's lying. What's the deal?"
"Can I talk to you in the dorm about it? Later?"
"Sure"
"Thanks" I reply.
As soon as they excuse us from dinner, I quickly walk to the closet, before anyone else sees.
I close the door behind me, turn around, and there is Eric, looking sad, but relieved
"Are you ok?" I ask, cautiously.
"I'm so glad you came. I need to tell you something"
"What?"
"I-I like you"
"Well, it does help to like your initiates"
"No, I mean, I really like you"
I am shocked. I truly am. I don't know what to say. I gasp, but I have a mixture of emotions. One part of me feels happy, but another part of me feels terrified. I mean, I know we had our moments, but he's an instructor. Actually, he's a leader.
"I-I-"
"Don't feel that you have to say it back. I completely understa-"
"No, I like you too. I really do. I mean, all those times when we caught each other's eyes, and when you stuck up for me, it made me feel special, but I didn't know what it meant, but it all makes sense now"
He puts his hands to my face and exhales with relief, gently rubbing his thumbs along my cheekbones.
"Oh Tris, I don't know what to say"
"No words, only this" and all of a sudden I find myself kissing him. And he's kissing back. His hands leave my face and wrap around my waist, pulling us closer together. I wrap my hands around the back of his neck, stroking his hair as the kiss intensifies. Suddenly, his tongue flicks mine and I accept it. This must be french kissing. He caresses the curve of my waist and I rub my fingers in a circle motion around the back of his hair, making us both groan with pleasure, but I pull away. As it stops, I can see a hurt and confused look in his face.
"I don't want to take it too fast" I whisper.
"I understand" he replies.
