Chapter 30

I thought about the final assessment, I would be sticking up with Shaun until the last day of our training, but surely they know how to make things interesting for everybody. I got paired with Alexis which we have gotten close and thought she'll be hating on me, but that's the opposite thing that had happened. She's sweet and nice.

Then the next days I was paired up with the other guys I barely interacted that day. And on the last day of the training, hindi ko sure kung swerte ba ako o hindi dahil si Kuya Emmett ang partner ko ngayon.

"We're only a few hours away," ani kuya. "We'll get to know if we will pass the training or not."

"Don't ask. I'm sure you will pass the training. I know you've been doing so great and could be the top trainee of this batch. You will make it and that'll be the opposite of my end."

I shove his hands away and I fixed by hair by brushing it with my fingers.

"But that's the truth."

Napakunot ng noo si kuya. "Why were you degrading your own capabilities?"

Umiling ako. "No, I am not degrading my capabilities. I just know that I won't pass the training. I'll be you 500 bucks and if I was right, you'll pay me 500. Is that a deal?"

"Even though I don't know how will you get that money, but that's a deal."

Well, confidence naman akong matatapos ko ang traning today, but I know they will be looking at my overall performance at the whole month of training and who would want someone like me on their team. Baka ako pa iyong kailangan nilang iligtas palagi and that would be a burden to the team.

When we were assigned to do a patrol using the patrol mobile, si kuya ang nagmaneho papuntang south beach. While we're patrolling and observing the beach side, kapag may dumadaan talagang mga rangers or patrollers ay nagiging behave ang ilan sa mga tao. Iyong iba ay wala talagang pakialam. Minsan kasalanan pa ng lifeguard kapag nasita sila.

"Is that Valerio?"

"It is," mahina kong pagsagot.

"Wait, kuya. Stop the mobile."

"Huh? Why?" he wondered.

"What are you doing, Carseldine?"

"It seems like you're hurt."

"I know."

"And you could be in pain."

"I am, but I can take it."

"What's hurting?" Bumaba ang tingin ko sa paahan niya. "Did you hurt you foot?"

"Hey, what's happening here?" Kuya Emmett asked.

"Guys, you shouldn't mind me. Do whatever you have to do. I've been experiencing this most of the time. I really don't mind."

"We've got a green whistle on the patrol car, you could use it. We'll take you to the tower so you could rest," suhestiyon ni kuya.

"No, don't mind me. I'm alright."
