Chapter 1 The weak and the strong

Description: Sunrises: Months, sunsets: years.

The cold night air whips and tugs on leaves as many figures run through the woods the sound of their paw thumping on the floor as they run for shelter and safety. "Here! In here come on!" The figuares run into the cave as the stones glow a nice calm blue and the figures start to look like.. Wolves? "We made it!" a small hazel and white colored she cried. "Shh Dusty. The alpha is speaking" Dusty's mom whispered as all the wolves sat down while a fuzzy boy wolf stepped up onto a rock. "We've finally made it to Blue cave! But we aren't done with our journey. We must make it to white cave before one of the other two packs!" "But how?!" "Clover pack drove us out of Yellow cave and took it for themselves!" The alpha lifted their paw shushing everyone else. "We will send out hunters for more food at early sunhigh! And scouts will be sent after the hunters come back, And the warriors will be on guard!" "That didn't work last time!" "What if Mushroom pack comes next!" "Relax, we are Timber pack!" "Nothing can stop us!" "Pack dismissed!" The alpha jumped from their rock and avoided the glowing crystals. "Mom, why are we going to white cave?" "Dusty, We must go cause. Well, ask the elders. I'm sure they'll be happy to tell you a story." "Ok!" Dusty pushed and shuffled past all the moving pelts to the elders corner. "Maple, can you tell me why we are going to white cave?" "Oh sure sweety!" Other younger wolves gathered around even some pups. "Long ago there was an evil that threatened us all. It even said only the strongest will make it to white cave and live. And that was sunrises ago, we are still fighting for it now." "Whoa." "Pups! Come on bed time!" All the pups went to the pup watcher and went to sleep in their corner with leaves and pine needles and plump rabbits to eat. "Dusty! Fang, Ferret!" "That's us, come on!" Ferret called to dusty as she disappeared in the swore of pelts and to the entrance "Wha- Oh scouting." Dusty reminded Fang as they made their way to the entrance. "Come on, look for rabbit holes or something we can use to help the hunters." A white female wolf told the young wolves. "Fang and Dusty you guys go in a pair. Ferret you're with me.'' ''Come on Fang, stop being sleepy like you're only two sunrises!" "I'm sorry running so many paw steps is hard!" "Ok i guess i can't blame you but we cant sit and do nothing, Sorrys catch no prey!" "I know Dusty, I just wish we could just be in our forest again. Don't you?" "Yeah but this is for our pack-" "hush up i smell rabbit." The two ducked into a stalking crouch and sniffed around for a close by rabbit hole. "Here it is." "Ok, You're good at this Dusty." "Thanks." Fang looked up, his gray head sticking out the grass looking around. "We're at the Blue Howling tree." "Ok let's get back to let the hunter know what we found." The two got up and walked back to the blue cave. "Where's Viper?" Fang asked Rory "Did you find something for the hunters?" "Yes we did Rory, at the Blue howling tree." "Ok she's talking to the beta near the tall rock." "Thank you Rory!" The two walked into the less crowded den and walked over to Viper. "Excuse me Viper-" "You know we can't fight Mushroom pack! That will only make the darkness stronger. They want us to fight and- '' ''Oh yes Dusty?" "We found a rabbit hole near the Blue howling tree." "Ok i'll tell the alpha at early sunhigh." "Ok, Come on Fang let's sleep." The two walked over to the scout corner and fell asleep.

At early sunrise, Aspin called a meeting. "All wolves old enough to hunt and guard the pack please gather under the Tall rock!'' All the wolves nine sunrises and up walked over to the tall rock "It's early sunhigh so now I'll send the groups, Blair, Sage, Flow and Stone. You guys will go hunting at the blue howling tree!" "Slash, Badger and Birch you guys will look for other packs and spy on them." "Flick and Pebbles you two will help Ruffled get herbs." "Everyone else can stay inside and do their jobs, Pack dismissed" All the pelts surrounding Dusty swirled and moved as everyone was going to do their jobs. "Dusty!" A voice called over and over getting closer to dusty. "What are we doing today?" "Oh hey fang. I was thinking we could get Ferret and sneak to Lavender field?" "Eh that's far too close to Yellow cave, Mushroom pack must be laying low there." "You're right, Let's talk to Ferret to see what they think!" "Ok." The two made their way to the entrance of the clave and walked over to Ferret who was saying goodbye to her dad as he went hunting "Oh hey Dusty and Fang" "Ferret where will we be going today?" "How about the lavender field?" "Too close to the yellow cave." "Hmm, Maybe Trout stream?" "Yeah that's close, What ya think Fang?" "Sounds good" "Then it's settled, let's go." The three snuck from the pack through a small escape hole in it that led all the way to the back of the cave. "Ok now lets go." "I suddenly have a weird feeling about this, Dusty." "It's not like we're walking into a thorn bush!" "Yeah lighten up Fang!" Ferret and Dusty walked ahead as Fang kept looking around and sniffing the air. "It's nice out today, Ain't it?" "Sure is, Right Fang?" "Huh? Oh yeah." "Stop being a mouse heart and hurry before moonfall hits!" "Ok i guess you're right Ferret!" The three ran towards a beautiful stream filled with some fish. "We're here!" "I'm so thirsty! I need to get used to running so far." "I thought last night made you fast, You were at the front while we were stuck in the middle being pushed back!" The three laughed while Ferret got a drink of water. "Wow you must've been really thirsty." "We ran like thirty pawsteps!" "Ferrets right Dusty, We are far from Blue cave.." "Fang, Ferret, Relax!" "Dusty something isn't correct, You can smell it so don't ignore it!" "Ermm, What do you mean?" "Dusty you can smell them too, Stop faking!" "Er- No!" "Stop acting like a pup! This isn't a game where you can't smell the darkness as good as any wolf! Where you can't sense they want us to fight!" "I- You're right. Why don't we tell everyone that! The elders don't know nor the pups. Why act all scared when we can fake to protect the others?" "Know what you have a good point." "Dusty, Fang!" The two looked over to Ferret who was digging something from the ground. "Are you gonna stare Or give me some help?" "Oh yes sorry!" All three started digging the lump from the ground to find a bag and some weird statues. "Hm these three wolf statues look cool!" "Hm, is that a leaf symbol?" Ferret asked "Yeah and this one has a fish" Dusty added "And this is a stone." Fang finished "Leaf, Fish, stone?" "wired." "Yeah." "Let's all keep a stone!" "I call leaf!" "I want fish!' "And i get stone." "Oh no moonfall is coming." "That was quick!" "Yeah." The three ran home through the orange sun lit forest to the Blue cave. "Where have you guys been?" "We found rabbit holes." "Oh good you went out scouting." The three walked in and sleepily walked to their cave corner.

three sunrises passed and Fang, Ferret and Dusty grew to one sunset "Ugh, Fang! Ferret!'' "Huh?" Ferret popped her head out of a rabbit hole and walked over to Dusty. "Coming!" Fang trotted over from a river to Dusty and Ferret. "How close are we to Empty lands?" "Uh i would say forty paw steps?" "Agh! Why is the Acid cave so far from everything!" "At Least we're near white cave." "You're right Fang." "Guys stop being distracted! Help me find rabbit holes or bird nests!" "Ok i'll look for beaver dams, Ferret you should look for rabbit holes and Fang you can do bird nests." "Ok captain!" Ferret teased as she leaped off. "See you before moonfall!" "I make no promises!" Dusty yelled as she ran off. "What's that smell, Is it mint? Lavender? Or maybe Honeysuckle?" "AGH!" A wolf pounced on Dusty's back, pushing her down "Get off!" Dusty pushed the attacker off and turned around to face them. "Who are you?" "Your enemy and worst nightmare!" The attacker growled and ran towards Dusty and tackled her making them roll towards a river and the attacker had Dusty pinned, "Please oh please spare me i'm just a poor little scout of twelve sunrises!" Dusty teased as she kicked the attackers underbelly "Ow stop you rat!" The attack scratched Dusty's nose and crimson leaked from it, Dusty kicked the attacker off and pinned them and bit into their neck deeply as they yelped in pain. "Take that!" "Hail?-" "HEY GET OFF HER!!" A strong looking male ran and knocked dusty into the river and she almost sank but she then randomly swam against the rapids and got onto shore. "What-" The attacker's friend stared at Dusty, still confused they swam against the rapid water. "Come on Hail, let's get the healer." The two left and then the name clicked to Dusty, Hail! She heard the name when running from mushroom pack to Blue cave. "Fang! Ferret!" Dusty yelled running from the little bush surrounded area to the empty lands expecting no one to be there yet. "There you are Dusty! I told you she didn't get attacked Fang!" "I did, By a mushroom pack warrior." "Oh, Well are you ok?" "Yeah they only got my nose. But I swam against some rapid water like a Fish!" "Cool! Anyways we already buried the prey we got if we ever travel this far again, We are close to Red cave." "Ok lets head back now, It's almost moonfall." "Ok, The caves this way!" Ferret led Fang and Dusty back to Acid cave and they walked to the scout corner of the cave and slept.

Birds chirped and pelts scurried around the cave from pup and elder corner to the entrance. "Hurry go! They found us!" "Fang? Ferret?!" Dusty kept on running around and skidding to a halt to find her friends, She then saw them attacking a colver pack warrior but Ferret looked shocked as Fang basically turned them into dust. "Are you ok ferret?" "I- Fang, I think their d-dead." "What?-" Fang stared in horror at their limp body. Dusty got pushed over by a clover warrior and fought them off as she guarded her friends. "Guys stop being shocked and move on so what if you killed someone?" Dusty yelled as she struggled to fight a warrior off "Come on Fang." Ferret and Fang ran off to the exit while dusty fought the warrior and ran off into the crowd of pelts saving herself. "TIMBER PACK COME ON!!" The alpha howled and yelled as the woods flooded with running pelts following the scouts to Red cave, Soon they made it and everyone hurried into the cave while four warriors stayed to guard the cave. "Are you guys ok?" "I- I killed a wolf.." "It's ok fang, You did it to protect us-" "I did it to protect you! Not the pack! It's like I killed them for just the three of us.. No one else." "That's not bad, Right?" "It's pack before friends! I didn't even think of the pack while attacking them.." "Fang it's ok.." "I just need some rest for now." Fang went to the new scout corner and slept being followed by Dusty and Ferret.
