Chapter 36: This is The End

Kill... kill her.

Her grip over Soyeon strengthened as she clenched her fist.

She deserves to die.

With all her might, Soyeon reached for Yoonie's arm, trying to tear her skin with her rough padded hands. Yoonie refuses to give way, continuing to strangle her.

She destroyed our home...

"Pl—Please..." The words merely escaped from between her constricted airway.

She destroyed our lives.

{YOONIE!}

The voice rang shrilly in her head - the high-pitched sound of her own voice bringing her to her senses. She looked at her hand - the neck of a wide-eyed Soyeon caught in between. The weight grew heavier as Yoonie paused in shock. As Soyeon's lifeless body fell to the ground, Yoonie jumped back in terror - now understanding what she had done.

She... she's dead.

That was the first time Yoonie had killed.

Of course she's dead - what was I expecting? Tying her up until the war ends?

Yet, what surprised her was the vengeance she felt when confronting the Queen of the Nightmare Monarch. There was an immense amount of anger and hatred unleashed from her when she held Soyeon in her hand. She still could not believe it - how could she ever have the stomach to murder someone, much less with her bare hands?

But she did. Whatever made her do this, it didn't feel like a work of her own.

{Hey - don't fret too much about it. We did what we had to do. Now, we have to get the others.}

Her inner voice reminded her, as she went in search of the other members. They should be dealing with the other Queens, and all with the same intentions to bring the leaders of the Nightmare Monarch down. Whatever happened, it did not feel right.

While taking to the skies, she realised that the control over the enemies' troops were released with the demise of their leader. The goblins were more uncertain; more anxious at what exactly they needed to do. Without the influence of Soyeon, they were just mindless beings without a goal in mind. The human troops took advantage of their confusion to attack, immediately bringing plenty of them down.

The gem. Yoonie raised her wrist, noting that one of the two red orbs in Yuri's golden jewellery was missing. I must have expended it... Let's hope I don't utilise the other one.

Pushing all thoughts aside, she focused on finding her other companions to lend aid.

As Yoonie flew high and low, above desolate structures and skirmishes amongst forces, she found out that the others had already dealt with their targets: Siyeon and Daniel quickly dealt with Yuqi and Shuhua, before going to the aid of Minju. Thankfully, they had arrived in time, just before Soojin completely overpowered Minju in a psychic finesse battle. Yujin and Yena managed to deal with Minnie quickly, owing to their win to the strength in numbers. They then went to support Yuri and Wonyoung, finally taking down Miyeon together. Hitomi and several other sealing specialists arrived at the scene with the second rotation - locking away the queens' powers before taking them into custody. Right now, the state of Iz*Land was more important.
