PAIGE POV
I was sitting in the cafeteria with my friends, like a regular day. Lou was telling me about a song Henry wrote for him and Taylor was telling me about how her relationship with Kenji was finally official. I was feeling a little jealous of them considering I'm the only single one in the group.
Sure, was there those random hookups going on with Charlie? Yes. Do I actually think it'll go somewhere? No. I sure hope so but realistically he probably just wants an easy hookup. The only thing that makes me doubt it is the stuff he said at the library, but I don't want to over think that. So to protect my own heart and think I'm just being used so it hurts less when I actually find it out.
I'm popping some fries into my mouth while I look around the room when I catch something going on in the other side. It's Charlie, he is sitting at his table with his friends and I see Gina walk over to him.
I clench my fist immediately jealous but let them go when I remember I have no right. I see she's straddling the bench next to Charlie and talking about something I obviously can't hear.
My blood starts to boil when I see her getting up and grabbing his face to give him a kiss.
But right before she gets to do that he takes her by the wrist and stops her. He isn't aggressive but he is stern considering she just practically assaulted him. He lets her wrists go and he moves her out of his lap and back on the bench. After everyone witnessed Gina getting rejected, Charlie takes a paper cup of fruit, a fork, his backpack and he leaves.
CHARLIE POV
I walk out of the cafeteria for the third time. It's takes me three tries to find a good way of rejecting her. There isn't a good way. So I'll just settle for this one and let it go. I'm extremely tired, i feel like I should have gone to sleep like 6 hours ago, it probably is right but I don't bother to actually count.
I walk into the empty hallway and go directly to my locker. I eat my fruit while I sit on the floor. Thank god there's no one here, they would probably be able to see in my face how tired I am.
"Are you ok?" I hear her voice ask. In the other times I've attempted rejecting Gina, Paige never came to check up on me. Maybe it's a good sign. Either way in 24 hour I won't be able to come back so I'll just deal with it.
"Yeah I'm fine, I'm just tired." I say, waving it off.
"What happened?" She asks as she takes a seat next to me on the floor.
"I messed up" I say trying to explain, but I'm so fucking tired.
"What did you mess up?" She asks.
"Everything" is all I can get out.
"Do you mind explaining?" She asks patiently.
I can't help but lean my head on her shoulder before I build the strength to tell her the truth. I've always thought the truth was better. "I was in the cafeteria and Gina jumped me and kissed me." I say. I'm glad she is waiting until I finish. "A girl asked her if we were dating and she said yes but I was too shocked to correct her. I couldn't say anything and then I was in Economy..." maybe now she's catching one to the fact I'm talking about returning in time, considering we haven't gone to our next class yet. "... I was thinking about how fucked everything was and how now I was dating Gina publicly and how I don't want to date, there's only one person that I'd ever consider date dating and it's not her." I avoid telling Paige that that one person is her. "So I decided to go back to find a why to reject her, I tried it three times and one of the times I came back when it was already the end of the day." I couldn't get the words out because I just dropped to her lap and closed my eyes.
