chapter 9: Am sorry.

"..." (Edward).

"That's what happened..I really didn't want to participate..but she begged to be there for her , she wanted to have a partner with her though the competition because she was a newbie and as life would have it we were selected as the last two finalist ...." Dora explain ...

"Okay if you don't believe..atleast you'll believe the completion coordinator..I kept his contact with me for a day like this .." Dora said and ran to the center table, picked up her phone and placed a call across mr Dale ( the coordinator).

Phone rings...

"Hello !" Mr Dale said .

"Hello sir ..please this is Dora "

"Dora who if I may ask please " Mr Dale asked

"Dora Micheal..the girl who won your scholarship " Dora said with fingers crossed , wishing he still remembered her and everything that happened that day .

"Ohh..that brilliant young lady ..it's been a while ...to what do I owe this honour of speaking with a business tycon like you " Mr Dale asked ..Dora was one of the most popular women of the business world .

"Please sir ..thanks for the compliment but I need a favour from you " Dora said

" And what could that be ?" Mr Dale asked .

" Please do you still remember the events that took place on the day I won the scholarship ?" Dora asked to be sure .

"Of course I do ..who would forget that kind of event ..that was the very first time I witnessed a student turn down a scholarship offer for a friend ..that was a noble act but unfortunately your friend died ..am so sorry ma'am."

"Thank you sir ..you don't know what you have done for me just now ..I'll get back to you later ..thanks alot " Dora Said and disconnected the call.

Edward fell short of words , He never knew this part of the story . All this while, he thought Dora was jealous of his sister and that was why she made sure she got the price .

"Edward please believe me ..I could never think of doing anything bad to my best friend, she was the closest to my heart .."

'apart from you ' Dora wanted to say .

" She was like a sister to me ..infact the only friend I had ..so why would I want to hurt her ..she died before I could fulfil her wish , I was shattered when I heard the news of her death ...it was like all the people close to me always died and an addition to it felt like a curse to my being ....Am sorry if I caused you some much pain but all I did was help and nothing more and if you still don't believe me , there's nothing I can do about it.." Dora was done explaining herself and she was fed up of saying the same thing over and over again ..if he didn't still want to believe her side of the story then there was no point in trying .

"..." Edward just stood there wide eyed ..his gun had fallen down ...Dora wasn't at fault , she really wasn't the cause ..the woman he loved wasn't the reason for his family's demise .

There was still hope ..all this time he wasn't crushed just because his family died but because he thought Dora was the cause , he loved her and he couldn't bear the thought of her being the reason for their separation ..he was heart broken .

"Dora...I ..I..Dora .." Edward stammered ..how was he going to apologize to her for all he had said and done ...was he really worth her forgiveness ...but here she was trying her best to stop him from taking his own life .

"Yes Edward.." Dora said trying to find out what he really wanted to say ..she hoped he believed her...tears had long started to flood her cheeks .

"Dora..will you ever forgive me !" Edward blurted out..dragging Dora into his embrace ..

"..." Dora was shocked as she was being pressed against a hard chest .

"Dora am sorry ..am sorry ..really sorry ..I was filled with so much hate for you that it blinded the love I felt inside , you were the reason for my smile , you are more than special to me but I forgot all that because of the thought of you being the reason for my family's demise...please forgive me , am sorry ...Dora ..." Edward continued to blurt out his feelings to her ..it was as if a big weight had been lifted from his heart ..he felt a relief .

"Edward..I forgive you ..please let me free ..I forgive you ..I forgave you a long time ago .." Dora said still trying to set herself free from his embrace .

"I knew you still loved me ...that's why you forgave me right ?.." Edward asked looking straight in her eyes searching for her answer ..he still loved her and he hoped she still did same .

"Edward am sorry but ...am with Gabriel now !" Dora blurted and it just dawned on him that she was still together with his friend ..'Gabriel'.

"But ..Dora.." Edward tried speaking .

"Am sorry ..but please let me go " Dora said and walked out , Edward just stood there like a statue...he had finally been freed of the pain of his family's death and also lost his one true love .
