Danny Torent's POV
I walked into the room that smelt of blood, sweat, and tears but not death. Not yet. Sam preferred to make a show, to make your death at least memorable to you before he ended you.
The layout of the British Empire was easy. To the right of the Griffin Manor was the residential area, where other people of the Empire lived. To the left side of it was a place Sam liked to call 'the kill zone'.
There were different buildings in the kill zone which held significance. The petty crimes such as treason had the bigger buildings to house the prisoners. The ones that had the heavy stench of blood were smaller in comparison and housed people with hard hearts.
There is a rumour that a Griffin was once locked in maximum security because a Reynold wanted to overthrow him. It might be another one of Sam's ghost stories, but it would be a good reason for why he killed off the Reynolds and maybe the Wellingtons.
Another thing which determines where you sleep in the prisons was what your offence was and who you were before you committed it. The section I'm in is for traitors. That's why the cells all have chains in each one. If you can't be trusted to use your limbs, then you won't have access to them.
I entered a lonely corridor and walked to the end of it. I stared at the hunched figure in the corner of the cell; his sickly thin figure greeted me, his beady eyes were slanted as he smiled. It was identical to both my half-brother's and mine. Something I never noticed until now.
"Hello, Father."
Joey smirked and propped his chin on his palm. His hair was matted in blood, but he still looked happy, as if he knew his condition was temporary. He knew that he was going to get out of here, alive. I had a feeling that he knew that I knew it as well.
"Nice to know that my son still cares for my well-being," His smirk grew by the minute.
I would love to wipe it off, but first, I have to get the information I came for. The secrets that have been kept away from me.
I walked into the cell and went closer to him but not close enough for him to touch me. Even if he stretched his hand, the chains wouldn't allow him to get too far.
"Never assume till there is no time left." Sam's parting words echoed in my mind.
"Heard from Kasie yet?" I begin.
"Not since your wedding. How was your wedding night, by the way?"
"Fine," I replied curtly.
"Good to know that both Griffin twins have been disvirgined by real men." He grinned as if he knew something that I didn't.
I would get it out of him one way or another.
"Interesting for you to say because Lola has started her family with Shane in a place where you will never see her again," I say.
You'd have to be very ignorant or completely blind to not see the show Joey put up for no one to notice his intentions towards Lola.
I always saw the looks he would throw at her when Troy and he claimed to be courting. He would mutter many things in his sleep but taking something that belonged to him was the summary of his late-night babbles. I figured there'd be more to the story and hunted for the truth. With the help of Shane, I discovered that Joey -my father- had raped Lola Griffin. He covered his tracks well, but you know what they say about the dirty things done in the darkness.
They come to light.
The grin dropped, "Excuse me?"
"That's right, Lola has moved on. Peyton finally succeeded in getting her sister away from this vile place that houses people like you." I examine the way his features become panicked.
