Finding a place to stay overnight in such a short notice was pretty fustrating. In a matter of hours it seemed like noone owned a hotel, motel, bed and breakfast or anything that would consist of someone staying over night. Just as I was about to settle onto a park bench (Yes,I was considering sleeping there,I mean it's Florida, its never cold here and there is rarely any crime. Lets not mention that my feet were hurting and probably had blisters forming on them.) I spotted a Motel sign about halfway up the street. I trudged up the street like a slave who has been working on an Alabama cotton field all day. When I finally got to the Motel I struggled with the door to open as if I was pulling it and it was pulling away from me. When it opened (finally) I scanned my sorroundings. There were pale blue walls with patches of chipped paint,an old black leather couch that had slashes in it,showing the white stuffing that once hid inside of it. Infront of me was a man sitting upright behind a low brown desk whose head was tilting back and forth in between snores. I was in school long enough to infer that no-one visits there often. I was just starting to consider that park bench again when my sudden groan of struggle startled the man behind the desk and awoken him. "Hi sir!,Welcome to the best Motel buisness in Jacksonville,Florida!Would you like a room?" He exclaimed. Just as I was about to make a clean run straight out of there I thought to myself. Where do i have to go? Maybe this won't be so bad, besides with the quality of this place he won't charge me too much, and I need to save as much money as possible. "Yes sir,one room please" I said with a slight smile. "Ahh! Splendid" he said as he handed me a Key. "And that will be 32.50$ Mister?" He said raising an eyebrow wanting me to finish the sentence. "Morgan,Chase Morgan" I said to the man handing him a 20,10,and5$ bill. On my way rushing out my old house earlier,I passed my father's wallet on our kitchen counter. I know i'm supposed to be on my own and all but who moves out without start off money? "Keep the change" I told him. It looked like he needed it. "Walk down that hall make a right, first door on the left. Make yourself feel at home" he said smiling. I followed his directions and unlocked the door to my room. It was a basic bedroom, bed,tv,dresser, lamp, window the usual. But I had no patience to contemplate everything. I was tired and worn out. I stripped down to my boxers, threw my suitcase on the floor and plopped onto the bed. My feet bounced up,I was amazed they were still there. I turned my lamp off and wrapped up under the warm blanket. Just as I closed my eyes imagine thought of what the man said to me "make yourself at home"......I don't have a home.
