Chapter 3- Trouble in the Way

Learning storm magic for the past month was fun. Professor Balestorm gave everyone a wand and deck along with giving me and a few of the other more promising students our copy of the thunder snake spell, I think he saw something in me after I demonstrated a high control of the more powerful storm magic, but I don't know so I just sat in my desk and listen to the small frog man teach about storm magic and how it fits into the grand view of the spiral. It was during one of Balestorm's lessons that it happened.

We were studying how to use the minor spark spell for stuff outside of combat when Merle Ambrose came to pull me out of the class along with my friend Kaia, which had me confused, so I asked him, "Headmaster, what are we doing aren't we are missing class?"

Ambrose looked at us and said, "something is going on in Unicorn Way, undead creatures are taking over the entire road, I want you two to go figure out what is going on in the street with the undead, and help anyone who needs help there."

Kaia and I both looked at each other and smiled and I looked at Ambrose, "we will do it, Headmaster." He then showed us go unicorn way and gave us both a deck to use then we went into Unicorn way and saw that there was what looked like a unicorn stallion standing next to a giant door and he was holding what looked like a rapier.

When I saw him, I was surprised and said, "isn't that Diego the duelmaster, he can teach us about dueling, and we can battle other wizards."

We continued down the road and found the Private that we were to check in with then he then asked us to dispatch some of the ghosts that were tormenting the residents, so we went down the road and that was when we saw a bunch of ghosts floating around the streets so we engaged the ghosts and used our spells to defeat them till there were fewer ghosts in the street causing trouble for the people on Unicorn way.

The Guard then told us to speak to the life school wizard who was also trying to help with the undead trouble and when we talked to him, he told us about the fairies that are being kidnapped and told us to go talk to the fairy guardian who lives at the end of the street and see if we can help save the fairies from the undead. As we traveled down the street, we saw skeletons roaming the streets, and then we saw dark fairies on the street till we finally reached the garden where we met Lady Seraph who was the queen of the fairies. When we met with her, she asked us to help free her fairies from the bone cages that are all over the streets and to defeat the skeleton warriors that are capturing her fairies and corrupting the fairies with the bone cages.

Kaia and I went outside the castle and decided to split up to finish the quest quickly, while she went to free the fairies in the cages, I went to battle the skeleton warriors.

Even after I defeated the skeleton warriors I still was left with nothing. It wasn't until Kaia freed the fairies trapped in the cages that there was a skeleton general in charge of the skeleton warriors in Unicorn way and that defeating him was the only way to stop the undead.

We went back to the Fairy garden and released the fairies that we had saved and when we did two of them gave me and Kaia each a fairy spell card that we could use to heal ourselves in battle which was helpful since I almost fell in battle battling against the skeleton warriors.

Once we talked with Lady Seraph about the situation we went to find where this Rattlebones that was in charge of the other skeletons that were attacking Unicorn way. It took a while to find the tower that Rattlebones was hiding out in so we had to ask Ceren Nightchant if he knew where he was and once we did me and Kaia rushed into the tower to face the skeleton Rattlebones who was running the whole attack on Unicorn way.

When we entered the tower we found Rattlebones talking to a dark fairy. "Good work, my thrall! This could be the tome Malistaire seeks. Now we - What's this, a Wizard? Excellent. I could use a combat break. Let's play!"

We were then pulled into a battle circle and battled against Rattlebones and a Dark fairy which took a bit since Kaia and I only had the beginning spells from Ravenwood, but we managed to beat him and saved Unicorn way. 

We knew that defeating Rattlebones would not stop the undead but at least without a leader, the undead would be easier to manage and defeat. we then returned to Ceren and told him that we defeated Rattlebones and he told us to return to Merle ambrose and tell him what we had done and the fairies were now free and also mention what Rattlebones said about Malistaire.

When we went to Merle Ambrose and told him what had happened he congratulated us on our success against Rattlebones but he also seemed nervous about what Malistaire and what he had planned for the spiral. He then gave us both a spell, Kaia got the spell Minor blessing, and I got the spell Lightning strike. After that he had us return to our classes and that he would tell us if there was anything else that he needed our help with and that we should practice so that we are ready to continue to fight against Malistaire and the forces of evil.

When I went back to my class in the storm classroom a lot of the other students wanted to know what had happened, so I explained that the undead forces were attacking Unicorn way but that my friend and I had taken care of the problem.
