don't leave like you did last time

hey everyone ! i'm back again since winter break just started for me. as i was going through my notes from earlier this year, i stumbled upon a few short stories that i wrote during my seasonal depression :sobs: and it was about original characters i created but i didn't really like it, so i decided to edit them completely and turn them into coai fanfictions.

also, i know i said that i will continue working on "i'll make a wish for you" and i promise i am. i just don't want to rush things so i don't end up like last year abandoning it for another year ! anyway, i hope you enjoy this little angsty oneshot <3*

shiho yawned as she was checking out of the shop. this was her first time shopping in japan after a year abroad in england. the scientist got a temporary job offer there and during that year she was mostly working in the laboratories, learning new recipes and shopping. a lot of shopping. that was certainly the most unproblematic year she had ever lived? and she had felt so good to have nothing else to worry about other than what to cook for dinner. well, all good things must come to an end, don't they?

as the reddish brown haired scientist was leaving the shop, she saw someone with raven hair entering it. unfortunately it took shiho a long moment to realize and process who that person was. otherwise she would've hidden herself before they got the chance to see her.

shiho cussed under her breath. even in a whole foreign country, he was still on her mind. she couldn't go on without thinking of him or the moments she's shared with him. and when she finally felt at peace and thought she had moved on, he suddenly appeared. that man really was a curse. seeing him after so long triggered so many feelings at the same time for her. anger? sadness? confusion? hurt? shiho didn't know what to feel, but she was sure that it wasn't a great feeling and she knew that the time she spent trying to forget him wasn't easy at all.

but the scientist just couldn't move, not after he had seen her. she just stood there with widened eyes while he looked at her. to say he was surprised was definitely an understatement. the two of them changed a lot. his hair seemed to be a little bit longer than she remembered and his style had changed. he looked more mature. she also did grow her hair out, which she planned to cut later on anyway. 

shiho didn't even know how he could stay there without having anyone ask him for an autograph or picture. the news was talking about him every single week. "the amazing detective of the east solves yet another crime" "kudo shinichi catches serial killer and brings him to justice" and a bunch more headlines over quite literally every case he had solved the past year. the only thing those headlines confirmed to her was that he indeed was and will always be a nosy corpse magnet.

she wanted to leave this place with every cell of her body. he was only five meters away from her and was quite literally staring right into her soul. she hated that. why was he doing that? shiho hated how he was. after all of her very hard work of trying to move on he just appears out of nowhere and looks at her like that? after all the heartbreak, sleepless nights, crying, sobbing and cursing she still had the audacity to love him?

the woman tried her hardest to move her feet, which successfully worked and she just continued walking like she hadn't been standing in that one spot in the middle of the shopping center for the past five minutes. shiho could just act like she never saw him that day.

but she felt a strong grip holding her wrist and stopping her from going any further. as she turned around it was no one other than him staring at her all over again. his gaze met her eyes and his lips were slightly parted.
