Melanie

I was sitting here in a daze, feeling the drugs slowly wearing off, all while I reminisced on all the things I didn't get to do growing up. Going to school, hanging out with friends, going on dates...just being normal. I always used to wonder how my life would've been had my mom still been alive, or if I didn't have this psychic ability. Would my fate still be the same? Would my Mom's fate still have been the same? What if my Dad never left, would we have even been in Texas? I had so many questions and no answers, which was probably for the best.

Aside from being on the run for the last fourteen years, my life hasn't been completely terrible. I've met a lot of cool people, been to a bunch of really nice places, and learned more in the back of a van then I would have in a classroom. If I'm being honest...everything I've been through has shaped me into the person I am today, and I really like the person that I am. Well...sometimes, anyways.

"Maybe dying isn't so bad." I said to myself. "At least I'll be reunited with my Mom and grandma again." I sighed sadly, wishing I didn't have such a fucked up mindset. Did I want to die? Of course not! Nobody willingly wants to die, unless they're suicidal and think that there isn't another way to find peace, but I wasn't one of those people. I wanted to live. I wanted to work a good job, go have drinks with friends, go on dates with my boyfriend, and maybe eventually get married and have kids. I want to wake up one day, without the fear that someone is going to come kill me, and enjoy waffles drowned in syrup and butter.

I closed my eyes, imagining what I'd be doing right now if I weren't being held captive, but that imagination was interrupted when I heard police sirens in the distance. My eyes shot open quickly and for the first time in days...I felt hopeful that I was about to be saved.

"Shit!" I heard, as the doors busted open, and Javier came running inside. "You stupid bitch! You tipped them off, didn't you?!" He punched me hard across the face, making my chair tip over, as I hit the floor hard.

"Ah! How could I have possibly tipped them off, when I don't even know where we are!" I snapped at him. He cut the tape off my wrist, roughly yanking me up by my broken hand, which gave me the advantage to elbow him with my other arm. He grunted in pain, grabbing his face, while I turned around and took off running towards the door.

"GET BACK HERE!" As soon as I grabbed the door handle, I felt a sharp stab to my to my lower back, making me scream out in pain. I fell to the ground, scooting away from him, as he hovered over me with a bloody knife in his hand. "I should've done this the moment I had you where I wanted you." He straddled me and grabbed my neck, gripping it tightly in his hands, literally strangling me to death. I tried prying his hands away, scratching at his skin, but it was no use. I even searched around for something that could be used as a weapon, but the only thing I could feel was an endless amount of hay. I could slowly feel my life slipping away as my vision became blurry, my body became cold, and darkness slowly started taking over. I guess this was it...for me.

*~Omniscient POV~*

The car came to a screeching halt, as the team jumped out of the car, and rushed towards the house.

"Reid, Morgan...find and search the barn. Prentiss and I will search the house." Hotch instructed, as they separated. "Javier Gomez...FBI!" They kicked the door in, swarming into the house, with backup officers behind them. They searched the entire house, with no signs of Melanie and no signs of Javier.

"Clear!" Prentiss called out, as she joined Hotch in the kitchen. "He must've known we were coming and took off."

"No...we surprised him. He was in the middle of making himself food, when he left the house in a rushed panic, which means..."

"He went to the barn." They both ran out of the house, finding the trail that leads to the barn.

Morgan and Reid cautiously approached the barn, their guns in hand, as they nodded for the backup officers to go inside first. Once they opened the door, they all rushed inside, searching the seemingly empty barn. Morgan immediately noticed a lifeless figure on the ground, that was partially covered with hay, as he hurried towards it.

"Melanie!" He called out, checking her pulse. "She doesn't have a pulse! We need a medic in here now!" Reid rushed towards them, dropping to his knees, as Derrick started doing CPR.

"I'm here, Melanie...I'm here." Reid whispered, grabbing her hand. The tears filled his eyes, while he sat there and hopelessly watched Morgan perform CPR.

"Come on Melanie, don't do this to us baby!" He leaned down, giving her mouth to mouth, before continuing with chest compressions. Hotch and Emily finally arrived on the scene, finding both Morgan and Reid next to Melanie's body.

"Where's the medic? We need a medic in here!" Hotch called out.

"Please...please wake up." Reid cried, feeling his hands start to shake. He noticed blood soaked into her shirt, which made him slowly push her over, noticing a deep knife wound in her back. "She's been stabbed!"

"How deep is the wound?" Morgan asked.

"Not that deep, but I need something to stop the bleeding." He removed his bulletproof vest and then his shirt, pressing it against her wound.

"Come on...come on..." Morgan's eyes watered with tears. He had grown to really like Melanie and accepted her as part of the team, and if he lost her...he wouldn't know what to do with himself. His arms were starting to get tired and he was about to give up, until Melanie's body jerked as she gasped deeply, and started coughing uncontrollably.

"Oh thank God." Prentiss said, grabbing her chest. Hotch was also relieved, closing his eyes, and sighing a long breath of release. The medics finally arrived moments later, kneeling down to check on her, before carefully placing her on the stretcher.

"Reid, ride with Melanie. We'll meet you at the hospital." Hotch told him. Reid nodded, putting back on his now bloody shirt, following the paramedics towards the ambulance. Out of nowhere, a figure emerges from the darkness, trying to escape as Morgan notices and immediately runs after him.

"HEY!" He called out, chasing him out of the barn. Javier had been hiding, waiting for the right moment to escape, but when he saw that Melanie had been revived...anger spread through his body like wildfire. He refused to let her live, which is when he made the stupid decision to leave his hiding spot, chasing after the paramedics with his knife in hand. "Reid!" Reid turned around, noticing Javier running towards him, but before he could draw his gun...a single gunshot made his ears ring as he felt droplets of blood splatter on his face. He opened his eyes, seeing Javier's body drop by his feet, while Derek stood there with his gun aimed.

"Nice shot." Reid said, wiping the blood from his face. He looked down at The Spider Man's dead body, feeling a weird sense of comfort, knowing that Melanie's tormentor was finally dead. "Good riddance." He turned away, climbing into the back of the ambulance, not even bothering to look back.
