As the sun shone on the sidewalk, Gabriella, Eddie and Christopher continued their walk to drop Chris off at school.

Christopher's imagination broke free during the walk and he shared his thoughts, "Gabby, do you think dogs know their dogs ?"

"what do you mean bud" she responded

"You know how like I'm a person, and a dog is a dog, but do dogs just think we're bigger, less hairier, smarter dogs that walk funny ?"

Gabby giggled, "thank god for you, kid"

Eddie smiled at the two as he heard the school bell, "all right, you gotta hustle up, say bye to Gabby"

Gabby knelt down to Christopher's height as her wrapped his arms around her neck, "bye bud" she whispered.

Christopher then hugged his father, "love you"

"I love you too, son. Now go to school buddy"

Eddie and Gabriella made their way to the firehouse as they discussed the topic that was previously bought up by Christopher. When they arrived, Eddie went straight to the gym where as Gabby went to the locker room.

Hen, chimney and Bobby were all in the kitchen patiently waiting for a call to come through :

"Ever think you missed your calling cap" Chim managed to say between mouthfuls.

"What are you thinking ? Michelin-rated restaurant or short order cook ?" Bobby responded

Chimney took another bite, "I was thinking TV chef, I mean what you do is like performance arts"

Hen smirked, "and much like watching cooking on TV, we never get to taste anything. Usually by the time it hits the table, the bell goes off"

"All right speed round. If you weren't doing this what would you be doing ?" Bobby asked as he continued to cook.

Chimney responded first, "fighter pilot. Top-gun. Call sign : Shot gun." Which earned a chuckle from Hen.

"What about you hen" the captain asked.

"Editorial cartoonist. The New Yorker."

The two men furrowed their eyebrows in confusion before hen replied, "I have a lot to say"

"You draw?" Bobby asked as he became more interested.

"No. it's a dream. It's not supposed to be attainable. Top-gun ? You can barely even drive, rebar head."

Buck and Gabriella entered the kitchen after hearing hens comment.

"Alright buck-a-roonie's, if you guys weren't members of the LAFD, what would you be doing ?" Chimney inquired.

Buck answered first, "uh. I don't know, I'm not getting fired am I ?"

"That's inevitable" Gabby muttered

"He'd be a golden retriever" hen chimed in, "No a bartender. No no no bouncer at a bar" chimney stated.

hen smiled,"Bouncer at a strip club"

Bobby looked at the younger of the siblings, "what about you Gabby?"

"Oh I'd be back in Afghanistan, or anywhere really, just as long as I'm still helping people" she replied

Hen looked at her, "BOOO ! Way to make us look like the bad guys"

Everyone laughed except for Evan, Bobby and Gabriella noticed after sharing a look with each-other.

"What's up with you kid ?" Bobby asked.

"Just traffic sucks in this town, unless you're driving ten tons of engine with sirens. It took me almost 2 hours to get from Maddie's place to the call centre downtown then back over here. Just told Maddie she needs to start getting Ubers"

"You know Maddie can drive right ?" Gabby responded

"No she can't ?" Evan questioned

"Yes she can, she took her test last year, ha, she's been scamming you for lifts to work" Gabby laughed as she realised.

"That bitch." Was all Buck said before everyone got ready to-walk away.

Just as Bobby, Buck and Gabby were about to walk away from each-other, everyone felt the earth shake. The movements were intense and caused Gabriella to fall. It lasted for 3 minutes which doesn't seem like much but for the people of Los-Angeles it felt much longer.

When the violent shakes came to an end, Bobby held out a hand for Gabby and helped her get up.

The team went quiet for a moment as they realised that it was going to be a very busy shift.

Everyone piled into the firetruck and braced themselves for an emotional call.

Eddie and Gabby looked over to see a building slowly collapse, half of it had already turned to rubble. They looked at each-other in the eye and shared the same worried look. The expression stayed on Gabby's face as she turned to her older brother.

The first of many emotional calls of the day landed at a near by grocery store that had only slightly been impacted by the earthquake although much to the 118's surprise there still seemed to be a large number of injuries.

After a hard couple of hours, the sky had finally darkened and the firefighters of the 118 headed back to the firehouse where everyone dispersed to do their own thing.

Gabriella noticed the absence of her good friend chimney but her mind was soon out at ease as she realised that he was dramatically pacing back and fourth in the middle of the apparatus floor.

She argued with herself whether she should check on him or not as she knew that she would inevitably be dragged into whatever problem he was facing.

She finally decided against it when her brother, Evan strutted toward the paramedic with a look of concern on his face.

For the remainder of the 118's 24 hour shift, they stayed on patrol, helped clearing the neighbourhood and occasionally answered an emergency call.

When their shifts came to an end, not a single word was spoken as everyone gathered their things. A tremendous amount of emotions rested on everyone's shoulders due to the amount of losses that the shift possessed.

Gabby and Buck shared the same look of condolence towards each-other before getting into bucks car and tearing out of the parking lot.
