It had only been a month before Sativa had her next ultrasound appointment. Jack had accompanied her, not that she wanted him to. They sat in silence as they waited for Lilliana. She aimelessly scrolled through her timeline, trying to avoid the stare she was getting from Jack. And when he didn't stoop, she sighed, locking her phone. "What?" She didn't bother putting any real emotion into her voice.
"Nothing," He shook his head. He seemed preoccupied, almost like he wasn't intentionally staring at her from the beginning. Her brows furrowed, "Are you okay?" She asked.
He met her eyes before inevitably looking away, "Yeah. I've just got a lot on my mind."
She looked down at her stomach the moment she felt pressure against it, "He hears you..." She sent aa small smile towards Jack who returned it. She slid over to her, pressing his hand against the tiny imprint, "Hey, lil man..."
"He does it everytime he hears a male voice. Makes me think the little fuckers gonna love his dad and uncles more than me." Jack couldn't help but laugh, "You've two got a better bond though. He might be a mama's boy, you never know."
Lilliana came in with a big smile, but it faded just as fast as it came. "I didn't know he was coming..." Sativa gave her a pleading look, causing the woman to clear her throat. "Let's get started."
***********
"She doesn't like me, does she?" Jack and Sativa sat inside of his car after the appointment. She shook her head, "She knows about everything, Jack. I don't know what you'd expect." He sighed, "Yeah... I know." He rubbed his hands over his face, "I'm sorry... I'm so fucking sorry that I wasn't there. I should've sucked it the fuck up and stuck around but I didn't. I pussied out and abandoned my family..."
Her broke when his voice did. She knew she was being hard on him. But how could she so early forgive him for abandoning her and her baby?
she grabbed his hand in his, seeing as his eyes began to gloss over. "I missed five months of this because I was being stupid-"
"You can not beat yourself up over this anymore, Jack. You're here now, that's what matters-"
He quickly cut her off, "I should've been here from the beginning. Shit I'd be fucking married, missionary Jack, known for being the biggest fucking player, would be married to his life long best friend. We'd still be living together and having our petty ass arguments. But I missed out and you moved on." Her eyes furrowed,
"I never moved on..." As their eyes met, she could see the hint of curiosity in his. "When we split again and things got rough I thought... I don't know what I was thinking, If I'm being honest. I didn't wanna be a single mother like my mom. I wanted to be able to give my child a loving, two parent home and everything they could ask for," She started,
"And when I realized I wouldn't be able to do that, I... I thought 'why would a bring a child into such a fucked up situation?' You know? And being under the spotlight never made it any better. I really wanted this. I wanted our timeline. I wanted to get engaged and get married and buy a home and have a kid. I wanted the cliches."
She wiped the tears from her eyes before they had the chance to fall, "I don't wanna keep fighting and talking about lawyers and having to avoid each other. I just want shit to be normal again. I want our engagement to be back on so I can finally tell you all my ideas for the wedding." The pair had shared a small laugh with each other.
"I have never in my life felt the way I do about you, ma. And I've been trying so hard to win you back and it just seemed like you were over it. And that's my fault. I just want all the bullshit to stop so everything can go back to normal."
Although the two had been friends since her freshman year in high school, being completely inseparable, never had she ever seen this side of Jack. But in a relationship, you'll more about a person than you ever would've being friends with them. She gave his hand a small squeeze, "I can't get back together with you if you're not gonna stick around."
"I'm gonna be here. I promise," He stuck his pinky out to the girl. It was their thing - pinky promises, that is. She took them seriously, and he followed suit. If you ever broke a pinky promise with her, it meant trust was out the window. She hesitantly linked her pinky with his.
"Alright, can we get food? This lil nigga is begging me right now." Jack cocked an eyebrow at her, "You lyin'?"
She squinted her eyes just a little, "Yeah... Look, he may not be hungry but I am. That's enough reason."

Also, tell me why my uncle ass fell asleep on my bed and I'm blasting pierce the veil and this mf moving his toes to it😭I hate it here.
Let me know what you guys think though. Also, when the book is finished I might take a break from writing cause my mental health is currently non existent. Love ya'll💕.
