Gregory was struggling to tie his shoe laces, despite how easy it had seemed. Finally, he let out a defeated whine, calling for Freddy. As if on command, he heard the tell tale metallic footsteps pounding on the ground towards him, although less scary then before. With a swift movement, the bedroom door was open, and the fatherly bear loomed above.
"Superstar! Are you ready for our outing?" Gregory merely whined again. His previous nightmares must've been making him more sensitive.
"Daaaaaaaaad... My shoes won't tie, no matter how hard I try!" Freddy only sighed, once again teaching his child to the best of his abilities. His paws were rather large though, so even he was struggling. Finally, the last knot was tied, and the two happily made their way towards the front door.
"Let's go Gregory! Think about it, we may have a chance to meet our neighbors too!" Gregory's shoulders slumped. They had just moved in, and he wasn't very excited about meeting other kids. "Chin up, Superstar, I'm sure everything will go fine." Freddy carefully grabbed up Gregory, placing him on his robotic shoulders.
"Alright, I'm just... Nervous I guess." Quickly, he shook the thoughts from his head, trying to focus on having a fun outing with his father.Stepping outside, Gregory was almost immediately spooked by a pale face being shoved in his own. "Hello! Please take this map." Silence filled the two, as the child nervously took the map. Not long after, map bot did it's little dance and then disappeared from existence.
"That was...quite odd! Gregory, let's have a look at that map." Unfolding it revealed a map of the neighborhood and surrounding area. "Gregory, you know what this means, right?"
"That the map bot we ran over may be mad at us?" Holding his breath slightly, he rocked back and forth on top of his dad's shoulders.
"No! Do you see this park? It seems pretty local, we should go there!" Well, that sure wasn't the answer Gregory was expecting, but seeing how his dad wasn't concerned, then here probably wasn't a reason for him to be either.(This sketch was made by me!)
The two then proceeded on their way to the near by park, which was only around a 15 minute walk. On the way, they spotted a few interesting sights, such as a hiking trail to the west of their house, a playground near the school building, and a few toys that were scattered around the neighborhood.
"Well, this place is certainly lively!" Freddy said, passing the playground. It was bustling with children or all ages.
"Yeah...lots of people, huh?" Gregory's grip on Freddy's hand strengthened, causing the dad to sigh.
"Gregory, you do know you will have to face this eventually. Your starting school next week, and you can go play with the other children!" They kept walking down the pavement, leaving the sound of childrens laughter behind them. "Think about it, you can get an education! That is very important for kids your age." Gregory let out an exhausted whine, burying his face in Freddy's head.
"Ughhh... I don't... I don't trust anyone here."
"Gregory, please. I know it is difficult, but we can get through this together. Now, let's not focus on the bad today. It is too beautiful to be upset!"
"Fineeee. The park shouldn't be too far now, so let's go."
