The Cake

Chapter One: My big day!

I wake up by the sound of my alarm. Then I realize what day it is. "Omg! ITS MY BIRTHDAY TODAY!" I scream. At least no one lives with me at the moment.
I get up and run to the shower. ITS MY BIRTHDAY. I take my clothes off and start the shower running. ITS MY BIRTHDAY. I rub shampoo and conditioner through my hair and scrub myself down with soap. ITS MY 21ST BIRTHDAY.

I get out and rub my self down with a towel. I blow dry my black hair and curl it. I put it into a side ponytail. I sprint back into my room and thrust open my closet doors. One question...can you tell I'm excited? I throw on a dress with sparkles on the lower part of it and pink silk on the top part. I throw on some sparkly flats and a pink flower headband. I unplug my phone from its charger and grab my keys for my yellow voltswagon bug.

When I get to my mom and dad's house, everyone's there. Ashley, May, Tiana and Jeremy, my boyfriend for four years. Ashley is my younger sister who is 18, May is my bestie, and Tiana is my favorite aunt. One because she's the only one who lives near our home and two she's super nice. My brother Sam is late as usual. He's older than me, 24, and he's probably asleep in a bar.
I walk in and everyone crowds around me. First mom speaks. "Oh Laina! We all love you!" She says. Then Jeremy butts in and says "I know I do." I giggle and give him a hug. He kisses me on the cheek. Dad comes and gives me a hug and so does Ashley and Aunt Tiana.

First we have my big birthday dinner consisting of my favorite foods, pizza, macaroni and cheese, peanut butter, and whipped cream. (What?! That stuff is good!) Next is the cake. "Aunt Tiana! What kind of cake is it?" I ask her. "I didn't make it this year." she says suspiciously. She didn't make the cake? How peculiar. She normally makes all my cakes. Her cakes are the best.
"I did." Jeremy says coming into the kitchen. "I thought I would do something special for a girl that's special." He says giving me a hug. I hug him back. "Awwwww" I hear Ashley say. I pull back and point at her. "Shut up." I say playfully. Jeremy walks to the counter and grabs a platter with a lid on it like at fancy restaurants.
He opens it up and it reveals a circular cake with pink frosting. On it are twenty one candles and written on it says "Merry Birthday!" on it. I laugh. I said that to him on his 21st birthday a year ago.
Then we do all the rituals. They light the candles sing happy birthday and let me blow the candles out. But there's a delay. I'm still thinking about my birthday wish. "A million bucks or a pony?" I think. Then I think of the wish I've been wishing for a while. "I wish Jeremy would propose to me." I think. I blow out all the candles which takes a few blows and everyone cheers. "What'd you wish for?" Jeremy asked. "Can't tell or it won't come true!" I laugh. But I'm serious inside. I really want my wish to come true.

After that we scarfed down the cake until there wasn't a crumb left. Everyone starts looking at me expectantly for some reason. "What?" I ask. Then everyone goes pale. "What?!" I repeat. I start getting louder. Jeremy clears his throat. "You didn't find anything in the cake did you?" He asks.
"What on Earth are you talking about Jeremy?" He gets paler as if that's physically possible.
It takes him a while to answer.
"Your engagement ring was in there."
