The results of all of us are taking so long I fall asleep in Jeremy's arms. We've been waiting for the results for five hours now.

I wake up to the sounds of shouting nurses and doctors. At first I think it's some patients heart failing because we're in the E.R. but when they forced me onto the gurney, I knew that it was me. I don't know why they're freaking out so much because they can just do surgery to get it out... right?

As I roll past I watch the room numbers pass by. 10A...10B...10C... they don't stop until I get to 30G. It's a big room with lots of scary machines and sick people on hospital beds. On the way to my bed, tears well up into my eyes as I realize who the nurse pushing me is.

"Mousie..." I say. Mousie is my best friend from high school. She was a senior and I was a freshman. Her real name is Jade but we made nicknames for each other.

She looks down at me wide eyed. "Cupcake?" she half laughs.

"Never though I'd see you on this gurney!"

"Well here I am..." I say warily.

"I thought I told you to never eat rings!" she giggles.

"Well I can be a rebel you know..." I sigh.

We both laugh and that was the end of our conversation for it was time to get on the hospital bed. I look around. These are major injury patients, like, "I have heart disease and need a transplant" patients. Not, "I just ate an engagement ring" patients!

The doctor that took my test walks in with Ashley and May right behind him. And guess who else decided to show up (late)? My brother with a massive hangover. Ashley runs up to me.

"Laina! What happened?! Did they tell you?!"

As she yells my brother cringes in pain.

"Little sis! I gotta headaisho" He wobbles.

She rolls her eyes and continues to pet me and straighten my hair like I was going to be the next Miss America.

The doctor talks with my parents on the other side of the room with a grave face. Mom looks like she's about to burst into tears and dad looks like he's about to punch somebody.

After what seem like forever staring at their lips and failing miserably failing at trying to read them, Mom and Dad come up to talk with us.

"What did the doctor say?"

Mom's bottom lip trembles and that's not a very good message.

"What did the doctor say?!" May yells.

My brother cringes in pain. Mom and Dad still won't spit it out.

The doctor walks up to me and says "Miss Laina, if we can't do what we are about to do by tomorrow, which will be very hard in your case, you will die."

And that's when my Mom begins to sob.
