Copter's POV

The second day of the convention went without a hitch.

I was proud of how my boss' speech was well received by everyone. I was proud of how effectively and convincingly he pitched our new pharmaceutical products. Ohm can be very persuasive. That's just one of his many excellent traits that makes for running his business so successfully. I feel lucky to be working side by side with him.

Then it was Kimmon Varodom's turn to pitch his company's products. The novelty condoms that featured some very interesting properties caught everyone's attention right away.

I stole a side glance at Fluke. He was blushing furiously but was keeping up a brave smile the whole time.

I felt a bit insecure about how our competitor, Mr. Kimmon Varodom, was able to give my boss a run for his money. He was just as impressive in his speech and received a lot of questions from interested parties. I sighed...... it was so easy to succumb to his deadly charm.

Watch it, Copter, I warned myself.

"You did very well," I praised my boss after the sumptuous dinner in the banquet hall where the convention was being held. "I'm so proud of you and of our new products."

"Thank you, Cop," my boss acknowledged my compliment. "You were very helpful with preparing my speech so my success is your success as well. Hey, I got an idea. Let's not retire to our rooms early. Why don't you join me in exploring Amsterdam's night life. I'm sure it would be very much fun."

"Sure!" I replied with much enthusiasm. "I had already been thinking about that even before you asked," I added cheekily.

"Will you be open to the idea of asking Fluke to join us?" he asked.

I hesitated.

I had already been aware of the growing attraction between my boss and Fluke. I was not sure that I wanted to be a third wheel during our night activities.

"Umm..." I was trying to form the right words without offending him.

"If it will make you feel better, let's invite Fluke's boss as well," my boss Ohm interrupted.

"Umm..." I hesitated even more. I wasn't sure if I could stand Kimmon's overbearing ways all night. And then again, at least, I wouldn't have to feel like a third wheel if he was around. I could always just look on him as the lesser of two evils.

"Sure," I replied, not feeling too happy about the situation.

I watched as Ohm approached Kimmon, who was deep in conversation with an executive of a Singaporean pharmaceutical company.

I watched some more as Kimmon made the introductions and Ohm and the Singaporean executive shook hands and exchanged pleasantries.

"How are things going?" I almost jumped when I heard Fluke's voice from behind me. I had not expected him to come up quietly behind me.

"Where have you been all this time?" I asked a bit reproachfully and instantly regretted it. I had no right to expect him to be around me at all times.

"I just came from the gents," he replied, smiling sheepishly. "Are you and Ohm planning anything for the rest of the evening?"

"You have got to be psychic," I said to Fluke, wide eyed. At the same time, my mind was going, "Oh so you're on first name terms with my boss now, huh?"

"Why would you say that? What has my question got to do with me being psychic?" Fluke asked, raising his eyebrows at me.

I did not have the chance to reply to Fluke because Ohm and Kimmon were now walking towards us. Kimmon had a disgustingly bright and happy smile plastered on his face.

"It's a go!" Ohm announced, his face beaming and wearing a bright and happy smile as well.

"I'm sorry, I have no idea what you're talking about," Fluke said, a small frown appearing on his face.

"Oh, forgive me for being so remiss," Ohm was instantly regretful for his lack of courtesy towards Fluke. "Fluke, I would like to invite you and Kimmon to join me and Copter to enjoy the night life of Amsterdam."

Fluke did not respond to Ohm's invitation but turned to Kimmon with a questioning look.

"I took the liberty of accepting for both of us," Kimmon said, "unless you had other plans for the evening."

"I was actually thinking of catching up on my online mystery book," Fluke said, regret written all over his face.

"You can always do that another time," I scolded him. Oops, what made me say that. Was I subconsciously looking forward to spending a fun night with Kimmon?

So heaven help me if that were true.
