Third Person POV

Kimmon was happy to note that Fluke, his new secretary/personal assistant did not look flustered at all when he informed him that he was going to attend the international convention of pharmaceutical companies next week and that it was going to be held in Amsterdam and that he was bringing Fluke along with him.

Kimmon told himself that he shouldn't be surprised though because in his resume Fluke had mentioned that he used to work as secretary/personal assistant to the Chief Financial Officer of a huge international company that sold men's apparel. Fluke would most certainly have handled the same responsibilities that he would be handling as his secretary/personal assistant.

What Kimmon did notice was that at the mention of Amsterdam, Fluke's face took on a pensive expression. Did Amsterdam have a personal significance to Fluke?

Anyway, whatever it was, was of no consequence to him. He needed to prepare the short speech that he had to make to pitch his company products and to make his company look good to the other nations represented in that convention.

"Is your passport current?" he had asked Fluke.

"Yes, sir," Fluke informed him.

"Please just call me Kimmon," he had instructed Fluke.

"Very well, sir... I mean Kimmon," Fluke said.

"When was the last time that you traveled outside the country?" Kimmon asked.

"Just three months ago actually," Fluke replied.

"And to where was that?" Kimmon wanted to know.

"London," Fluke informed him.

"Was it a personal trip or a business trip?" Kimmon asked.

When Kimmon noticed the look on Fluke's face, Kimmon said, "I'm sorry, I know that this looks like I'm placing you on a third degree but just look at it as a continuation of your earlier job interview."

Fluke pursed his lips before replying, "It was a business trip. I was accompanying my boss at that time."

Kimmon reminded himself that he needed to change some of his attitudes and behavior towards his subordinates. He knew that there were lots of times when he acted without thinking whether his actions or words might have offended  his subordinates. Mrs. Wongcherin did mention once that he tended to deal with his subordinates in a high handed manner.

"Okay, I will stop questioning you now," said Kimmon. "Thank you for arranging our flight and booking our hotel. Be sure to have an early night because you have to be at the airport four hours earlier than our scheduled flight, since it's an international flight."

"I am aware of that, Kimmon," said Fluke.

Did Kimmon just imagine it or did Fluke's voice take on a condescending tone?

Early the following morning when the sun was just peeping from the horizon, Fluke was already in a taxicab on his way to the airport. He was waiting for the cab driver to bring out his luggage from the trunk of the cab when his phone sounded a text notification.

"I'm waiting in line at the departure section. How soon are you gonna be here."

It was from Kimmon.

"I'm making my way to you right now, sir"  Fluke texted  him back.

"Kimmon, not sir. This must be the umpteenth time that I have had to remind you."

Fluke did not bother to reply to that. He quickly entered through the automatic sliding doors and walked into the departure area.

Kimmon had spotted Fluke almost immediately and raised his hand high up to wave to Fluke to make him notice him.

Fluke waved back and motioned to Kimmon that he was going to scan his passport first at one of the nearby scanning machines before joining him to check in his luggage.

By the time he finished scanning his passport and making his way to Kimmon, he noticed that there was someone standing right behind Kimmon and Kimmon seemed to be having some kind of heated discussion with him.

As Fluke neared them he could hear the other guy saying, "It doesn't matter if he's with you. I am here ahead of him so he will just have to fall in line behind me."

The guy turned his head at the sound of Fluke's footsteps.

"Copter!"

"Fluke!"
