Third Person POV
Mrs. Wongcherin threw her phone against the wall. She was up to her neck with her client's antics. This was the umpteenth time that she had to look for a new secretary/personal assistant for the arrogant, eccentric, quick-tempered Mr. Kimmon Varodom.
His secretaries came and went in quick succession. He either fired them or they quit, some on the spot, or on the same day of hiring.
The longest time that a secretary/personal assistant stayed with him was three months and the reason he fired her was because she had started to become jealous of Kimmon's girlfriend. In other words, the secretary had fallen in love with him and could not work as efficiently as before because her emotions had gotten mixed up with her duties as secretary.
Mrs. Wongcherin sighed. In fairness to Kimmon, she understood how it would be easy for someone to fall in love with him, especially if that person had to be in close contact with him everyday for eight hours.
The secretary falling in love with the boss was a very common thing to happen but it was especially a common happening in Kimmon's situation. He was young, handsome, virile, smart, charming when he wanted to be, persuasive, attractive, handsome, handsome, and handsome. No one was immune to his charm. Maybe if Mrs. Wongcherin hired an older person they would not be attracted to Kimmon. But then she had already hired a much older person before to be his secretary and she didn't last long either. Not because she had fallen in love with Kimmon but because she could not stand his arrogance and his quick temper and his behavior which sometimes bordered on rudeness.
Maybe if she hired a married person that person would be less likely to fall in love with him, especially if that person was happily married. Wait, Mrs. Wongcherin had done that before as well. She had hired Mrs. Lily Bunyuen and in a matter of three weeks, Kimmon fired her because her jealous husband kept calling her and interrupting her work.
Then a bright idea dawned on Mrs. Wongcherin. She would hire a male secretary/personal assistant. There was no way that a male secretary would fall in love with Kimmon.
She had never hired a male secretary for Kimmon before. It might take her some time to find one who would be willing to work for somone like Kimmon but it was worth a try.
She called the most prestigious and most well read newspaper in the country and placed an ad for a male secretary/personal assistant to the CEO of one of the country's largest pharmaceutical companies. She placed the usual salary offer, hoping that someone would call her soon for an interview.
On the third day since she placed the ad and no one called, she started to get anxious. Kimmon had been calling her daily to ask if she had already found a secretary for him. She could hear him cursing under his breath each time her answer was negative. Her nerves were wearing thin. She was this close to screaming her lungs out in frustration.
"I need a secretary right NOW, Sonia!" he bellowed on his phone. "I still need to train her at least a week before I fly to Amsterdam for the international convention of pharmaceutical companies. Get her for me right now. I am desperate, Sonia. Increase the salary offer if you have to. Make a really attractive compensation package. Money is no issue for me at this time. Do it NOW!"
"Very well, sir," Mrs. Wongcherin said, careful not to let Kimmon hear her grinding her teeth.
"That's a good girl," Kimmon said before cutting the call.
Kimmon was the only person who could tell her "that's a good girl" and she would not feel condescended upon. If anyone else said those words to her she would definitely give that person a piece of her mind.
She immediately got to work and called the newspaper ad section and instructed them to change the amount of salary that she had originally offered. She was sure that the amount was high enough to attract at least a caller or two or even more.
The following morning Mrs. Wongcherin received the first call from a potential hiree. He had a deep manly voice and sounded efficient and had a good employment history, but he was negotiating for a higher salary. She said she would give Mr. Varodom a call and would get back to him. Mrs. Wongcherin wasn't sure that the caller's personality would match Kimmon's. He sounded efficient and self-confident but he also seemed to think too highly of himself. He might not be able to handle Kimmon's high handed manners.
Several other calls came in and she promised all of them that she would get back to them soon but there was none whom she thought would get along well with Kimmon. She was tired of having to keep looking for replacements. The work day was ending and she was getting close to climbing the walls of her office. On top of that Kimmon would call her from time to time to ask for any progress in her search for a new secretary for him.
She made herself a cup of jasmine tea to calm her nerves.
She glanced at the wall clock as she sipped the last few drops of her tea. It was a minute before five in the afternoon. No other call had come.
She sighed and resignedly set down her cup and started clearing her desk. Kimmon would have to wait another day for her to find a new secretary for him.
When her desk had been cleared of papers and file folders, she locked up her desk drawer and grabbed her purse from the top drawer of her filing cabinet.
She was heading out the door when her office phone rang.
