A wise man once said 'nothing'

'It's better worth it,' I thought as I finally got out from my bed. Many minutes had passed before I decided to answer the fellow ringing the doorbell and disturbing my saturday morning sleep.

One thing I'm sure everyone does is plan their time. I know I'm not the perfect human being on earth and that's why I do my things at my own convenient time. I know when I ought to be sleeping and when I should be awake, when to be on my phone tapping away on social media and when not to, when I had to eat, when I had to get focused and study. So right now is like disruption of time because every Saturday, i sleep in.

I opened the door to find a scrawny brunette looking boy around my age staring into space.

"Hello, how may I help you?" I asked him as I rested my body on the door frame.

"Good day, I came to deliver this and I also need an adult signature for it," he said as he shot out his hand with an envelope in it.

My eyes drifted from the boy to across the street where I saw my neighbor coming in from her early morning everyday jog. I made a mental note to wake up early enough tomorrow so I could jog.

I cleared my throat when I discovered I was yet to give the cute mail-boy a reply. "My Mum is the only adult here and she is presently not at home but perhaps I could sign," I smiled hopefully.

My mum was yet to be back from one of her friend's get together party after many persuasions to let loose and enjoy life. She had to sleep over because it was late and was not a huge fan of late night drive. I assured her I would be home, on my bed through out the Friday night.

The mail boy finally gave the letter to me, after I made him understand I wasn't interested in knowing what was written in there and to be frank, i wasn't.

I placed the letter on the dining table and went to my room to clean up.

Olivia and I had made plans to treat ourselves this evening in the same restaurant she went on a date to, with Jake and I thought it was a good idea.

Feeling in the mood to cook, i went into the kitchen to make something for my Mum and I to eat with the aid of some good music. As I was tidying up the kitchen, i heard the rattles of keys outside indicating my mum was home.

"Good afternoon Mum," I greeted as I helped her remove her coat. "How was the party?"

"It was really great. Thank you for convincing me to go."

"It was nothing, really."

"I'm surprised to see you awake at this time" my mum stated laughing.

"Mum! What do you mean? Anyways it was one mail boy who woke me up though," I said to her. "And oh, the mail is on the dining table."

"Mail? that's strange."

I shrugged. "I hope you haven't eaten because I made something for both of us."

"Brunch?"

"Maybe"

"You're a darling," My mum pecked me on my forehead.

I checked the time and found out I had used most of the time cooking. "I'm going to dish out both our food now. Hope that's okay"

"It is."

I felt happy because it felt so long since my mum was like that. It was a breath of fresh seeing her so relaxed and jovial. Smiling from ear to ear when I entered into the kitchen and back to the dining just because I was loving it.
