I stumble through the streets and feel my head is only getting worse. I need to stop for a second and take a few deep breaths. I lean against the wall and sigh. I knew this was gonna happen, but still.
I push myself from the wall and begin to walk towards the house. All I need is alcohol to stop the dying pain in my body. I'm breathing heavily and see that the Garrison is completely full.
'Merde,' I say under my breath and close my eyes. I have already begun to find the best lie that I can tell them. What if they don't believe me? What if they don't catch my lie and the copper will tell them the truth?
I just stumble further and further until I finally reach the door. I almost fell against it and just knock a few times. I close my eyes and wait. It takes a few minutes before the door finally opens.
'O my, Mila,' I hear Aunt Pol say somewhere in the distance. She grabs me and yells that the brothers need to come help. My eyes are closed, so I don't see where we are going or what their reaction is to seeing me.
I feel a pair of hands lift me up and I'm beginning to be brought to the couch. They lie me down and I slowly open my eyes. I see the faces of Thomas and Aunt Pol close by me and Arthur, with a face full of bruises and cuts just like me, behind them with John.
'Give me alcohol and some clean cloths, we need to clean those wounds,' Aunt Pol says and Thomas gives her a bottle of whiskey. Aunt Pol gives the bottle to me and I quickly take a few gulps from the bottle.
I feel how the strong liquid flows through my body and I relax a little bit. I take a few more and then throw the rest of the bottle over my face. Aunt Pol quickly comes up with pieces of cloth to help me clean my wounds.
'What happened?' Thomas asks and I groan for a second when the cloth hits my face.
'What do you think has happened?' I ask him, irritated. He doesn't look at me and I sigh. 'They wanted answers about something to do with a robbery. They thought I would know something since I'm your daughter now.'
'Your head is bleeding,' Ada says who comes running to me. I'm irritated and in for some sarcastic comments, because I really don't have something better to do.
'Oh really?' I ask, irritated. 'I hadn't noticed that half of my fucking blood was flowing out of my head, but thanks for letting me know.'
Ada looks at me in shock a little bit and Tommy shakes his head.
'I think you need to calm down,' he says and I scoff, wanting to stand up, but Aunt Pol pushes me back onto the couch.
'Don't make me angry and tell me to calm down,' I snapped at him. 'That's like stabbing someone and wondering why they are bleeding.'
'Then why is she so angry? Why are you so angry?' John questions and I keep looking at Tommy. Straight in his eyes. I don't blink and my eyes are filled with flames and anger.
'Yeah, Thomas, why am I so angry?' I plead at him and Tommy rolls his eyes. He looks away from me and looks at John.
'Because I didn't tell her something, because it wasn't her business,' he says and I just shake my head.
'You said that no one would get hurt,' I snap at him and Tommy doesn't meet my eyes. 'You said and I quote: It's better if you know nothing. Well, I guess we were both wrong, eh.'
'You really need to calm down, Mila,' Ada says and I send her a death glare. This is between me and Thomas. And I will find out why the hell that copper has beaten me up and not only for my old name.
'Telling an angry woman to calm down works about as well as baptizing a cat,' I snap and don't let my eyes of Thomas. He just looks away and Aunt Pol continues cleaning my wounds. 'Now, can someone please tell me why the fuck I have been beaten up, because if no one does I will kill somebody.'
