"I'm sure your...Dragon friend...meant no harm, but I'm sorry. We enforce the laws of the Zorg, and well, your friend is a Dragon, and good intentions or not, she needs to be given to the Zorg. Their entire job is to save us from the horrible Dragons."

The redhead next to me fumed. Even in chains and with a large welt on her head, she looked ready to tear the King's face off. Beside her, lying unconscious, also chained, was another girl, her long cinnamon-brown hair sprawled about her face. The redhead had woken from unconsciousness just moments ago, and was now screaming at the king.

I myself was bound in thick chains as well, tied to the floor of the Kings small throne room. Only hours before I had been walking through the halls of my highschool, going to my next class. The only thing I was stressing about was my grades, and the fact that soon, my best friend Natalie would be moving to the capital city, Gomoria, and I'd have no friends.

I struggled against my chains again, making my short black hair fall into my eyes. I shook it out and assessed the room for possible ways to escape for the 10th time.

There was only one exit, huge double doors set with rubies, probably the most wealth you'd see in one spot in our small village of Pira. There were two guards on either side of the doors, making escape impossible that way. There were also large windows, open to the air, on either side of the throne room. Sadly they were much too high, far above any of our heads and a fall from that height would break limbs. Great, theres no way I'm getting out of here. My parents are going to kill me...

The girl next to me, Remi, she said her name was, struggled harder than ever before against the chains. "I won't let you give her to the freaking Zorg!" She yelled up at the King, pointing at the girl with the cinnamon hair. The King just stared back at her placidly. "My Lord, they'll kill her!"

"It is not my business what they do with the Dragon," the King said, his voice ringing with an obvious air of authority. "Now, I am going to put you all in a cell to wait for the Zorg to arrive. They will decide what to do with the lot of you."

"I- but-" Remi choked.

"Quiet, child," the King said, standing. His long brown hair fell over one shoulder as he stood. "Dragons must all be terminated and if you have something else to say you can say it to the Zorg. Take them out of my sight."

The guards by the door advanced and unlocked my chains first. Remi struggled and shrieked as they grabbed her but she was soon overpowered. The unconscious girl was slung over one of their shoulders and we were led out of the throne room.

How did I get into that situation? Well that's a story I can tell, if you'd like to hear it.

One day earlier.

I glanced at my clock. It read 6:30 A.M. I sighed, waking up too early was a specialty of mine.
