           Chapter 4: New Opportunities.

   You leave your apartment. Trying to forget the nightmare you've had and try to just continue on with your morning. So much is going through your head. Let alone the fact that now you have a stinging feeling in your chest. You then make it to the elevator and push the call button to head down stairs.

   Inside the elevator you listen to the classic chime of soft music playing through the speaker. You look down at your watch and see that it is now 7:38 a.m. As you go from your floor the elevator is stopped and opens on the 2nd floor. You realized that someone else is coming to join you in the elevator. You wait for the doors to open and open they do. You see a man awaiting there. He looks to be pretty young, his blonde hair is slicked back and he's wearing an all black attire. His aura he's giving off tells you of a 'Get Out Of My Way' vibe. He enters the elevator, heels heavy in step. As he looms over the controls and closes the doors. You now wait in silence as he is admittedly intimidating. You try not to look but you can't quite help yourself. Though as you look again you realize he noticed and is immediately staring you down. The man's gaze feels like spotlights happening upon an intruder. He looks almost annoyed and asks the following. "Something the matter?" His voice almost grizzled yet refined. The tone almost unsettling. You then get asked again "Are you deaf?" The man says again. You quickly answer out of fear and tell him that you've never seen him before. The man then scoffs and says "That's because I don't live here." He then turns to face the doors again now ignoring you. You look a little more without him noticing and find he is definitely suspicious. Without realizing it you've both reached the main floor. Before the man leaves however he puts on slick black sunglasses and leaves in a hurry. Bumping into you aside like a nuisance. You get a little annoyed but brush it off. You head to the entrance and Barry says his greetings and asks where you're headed so early in the morning. You tell him you've got a date with a co-worker, but he only chuckles and says don't do anything I wouldn't do. You smile and wave goodbye as you head to your car.

   When you finally make it to your destination you head into the coffee shop, it's not as packed as you thought. Though it is a Sunday morning so you're not surprised. You go to the counter to order your usual and wait by the counter. As you wait you look around trying to find this 'Claire'. You see couples mostly here looking like they just finish mass and are just relaxing. On the other side you see the loners with laptops, writing novels or posting on their PV's like usual. No one seems to look out of place until you see someone familiar. Just before you try to remember, the person from work calls you again. You answer and its Claire. "Hey, I was wondering how long you have till you get here?" You tell her you're already here and are currently waiting by the counter. "Oh really?" And as she says that you see the girl that you recognized having her phone out and turns to look at you. "Oh is that you?" Claire says surprised. You also looking pretty surprised say yes to confirm. You then get your coffee ring up and you head over to her. You honestly didn't expect to see that the person you were gonna meet was the same person from last night. You sit down at the table as Claire holds her hand out to greet you. "Well, well, well." "Small world." She says giggling to herself. Claire was wearing a white button up and tie with classic suspender high waist slacks. You shake her hand while also complimenting her outfit. She smiles and say thanks, I just got back from church with my brother. You ask if she is religious, but she only says she's just keeping her brother company. Claire then turns her laptop to you and shows you the details on the assignment. As you can see from the screen the topic is about Umbrella. Ever since you've been here, you only ever heard good things about this pharmaceutical company. Some tin foil hat wearing weirdoes online going on about nonsense. Never did you think you would be investigating the company yourself. You ask Claire who assigned you two to this project. Though Claire says "I was kinda hoping you would tell me?" You look confused and Claire mirrors your expression as well. You both come to the conclusion that you've both been hired to investigate the Umbrella Corporation by an unknown employer.

   As you continue to discuss the information given to both of you. You and Claire are both given 3 months to gain new information on the organization. Having to investigate this corporate tycoon seems a bit daunting. However a paycheck is a paycheck and you're not one to turn down an opportunity. Claire then says "So our anonymous, client gave us both two locations to look over." "One is outside of town in the nearby county, and the other is right here in lil ol' Raccoon." Claire then points out the objective of each one. "So the one outside of county is to investigate a separate facility under Umbrella." "The facility is moving illegal chemicals and soliciting locals." Claire then goes on to add, "For the most part it's sounding like a hoax and maybe this client is just an ex employee getting back at the company for whatever the reason." Claire then selects the other folder. Claire seems skeptical on this one as well. "So this one requires us to go on a tour of the facility under the guise of showing the wonders of the company." "Apparently there is something amidst the company in itself." Claire then goes on to add her own suspicion. "I'll be it is a little strange, the most part of my suspicions is that the company has been moving some suspicious cargo lately by military grade vehicles." "Biohazard Transportation Vehicles makes sense, but the Military being brought in is a bit much." You also had the suspicions of their recent transportation methods.

    Not much is said on the files except, reporter passes and clearance IDs for off limit areas. "I'm curious to why anyone would look into this but I guess there isn't much exciting news lately." Claire then slides the laptop to you to get a little more intel on each case. Other than what you've already discussed their isn't much to go off of. If anything, you feel even more suspicious. The information too shady, and sounds like it wants us to find something that they won't tell us about. Why have a private investigation with reporters instead of professional PI's? Claire snaps you out of your thought asking if your okay. You nod your head to confirm you're fine. You then ask Claire which one she wants take. And Claire says she wants to take a break from Raccoon City and takes the out of county job. So you take the latter. You both agree on a set date to come back with each others findings. Since you only have the 3 months you decide to meet up on the last month and rendezvous here. It's not alot to work with but you finish up your discussion with Claire and take a moment to talk to one another.
