Chapter One; - Going Through Changes.

My name is Tiffany Asinger. I used to live a exceedingly normal life, I did well in school, I was practically an A* student. I did all my homework and never dared to answer any of my teachers, or my parents for that matter, back, I always told the truth and never stepped a foot out of line. Some may say I had a good life and great things were expected from me, my dream was to go on to be a psychtrist, with all the grades I was achieving and the hard work and effort I always put in, the possibilities seemed endless. That was until I changed. I made a life changing decision that I'd had enough of being little miss perfect and I wanted a change and I didn't care what the consequences would be, I was only bothering about myself for once

.So I went ahead, I stopped doing my homework and working hard at school, I decided I wouldn't bother, it was too much time and effort, then I had school constantly phoning my parents and complaining about me, no-one had a clue what had gone wrong,  my parents were dumbfounded they kept trying to figure out where I'd gone wrong and kept asking me had something happened. I just shook my head. The next step was I started skipping school, I'd met a guy named Elliott a while back and he was a college drop-out, so some days instead of going to school I'd hang out with him all day and we'd go into town. That was when my addiction started. Elliott smoked constantly so one day I decided I really wanted to try it, just to see what it was like. I asked Elliott he nodded sparked one up and passed it to me. At first I was worried incase my parents found out I'd been smoking but then I just though what the hell and took my first drag. It wasn't quite what I expected, it made me cough profusely. Elliott just laughed at me and said "Your not taking it back properly, here I'll show you".  He took the cigarette from me and took a drag himself and exhaled the smoke. "You have to breathe it right in so it goes here" he pointed just below my neck, "then just exhale" he explained. I nodded and took the cigarette back from him, I did exactly as he said and this time I didn't cough, I actually felt pretty good. Elliott smiled and said "there you go, that's right". I grinned and finished off the rest of the cigarette. As Elliott was eighteen he could legally buy cigarettes himself, I couldn't as I was only sixteen. So Elliott agreed to buy me some. Within a few minutes he was back from the shop, he handed over a pack of 40 cigarettes and a zippo lighter, I thanked him and shoved them into my duffel bag. It was 3:50pm now and school finished at 3:30pm so I figured I should be getting home seen as my parents thought I'd been to school. When I got home, my parents were both sat in the lounge waiting for me. As soon as I entered the room my mother spoke "And where exactly have you been?!" a tone of anger in her voice. Puzzled I replied "What do you mean?" She snorted and said "Don't play dumb with me young lady! I know you haven't been at school today, I recieved a phonecall from Mr Bert.". I was shell-shocked, I'd skipped school so many times before and Mr Bert had only just decided to ring my parents now?. " um.. I'm sorry, I- I promised I would go to town with my friend today, it was important, I really am sorry..". I could see a look of digust in both my parents faces, they were not impressed in the slightest.
