Today was the day, the 2nd December aka the day i'm moving to Seoul, South Korea. I love Korea so much, i thought it was such a pretty country. I dreamt of just visiting never mind living there! Anyways let me introduce myself. Hi! My names y/n, and i'm a 17 year old girl from the UK. I've lived the the UK all my life but never really liked it, it's so dull here and there's not much to do. That's why i love Korea so much, the country is so pretty! I started learning Korean when i was 12, my mum asked me since i loved Korea so much if i wanted to start taking lessons as i wanted to visit in the future. I obviously said yes and i've been taking lessons twice a week since then, so not to hype myself up too much but i'm pretty much fluent, i sometimes just mix a few words up.

6 months ago my dad got offered a really high payed job in Korea earning ₩478,077 a week (£/$300). My parents were hesitant to take it at first but ended up going for it as the company my dad was going to be working for offered to pay for a place for us to say for 8-10 months while we got enough money and a place to say. I would say i was over the moon when they told me but that would be an understatement. We had 6 months to prepare so every night i did a 1 hour Korean lesson with my parents teaching them the basics of the language so they'd be able to communicate with the people there. Besides we were going to be living there so they'd pick up Korean really quickly, a lot quicker than usual since they knew the basics.

I was so excited to tell my best friend Jake. Me and Jake have been online best friends for 3 years, we facetimed almost everyday and messaged each other non stop. To be honest i was closer to him then i was with my real life friends. Jakes Korean-Australian so he's also fluent in English. His English was so much better than my Korean when we first met, i'd only been taking Korean lessons for 2 years when we met so i was good but not the best so if i made mistakes he would often correct me and if i had no idea what he was saying he'd tell me in English. Jake moved to Korea when he was 7 (he's 18 now so he's a year few months older than me because his birthdays in November while mines in June) so he was fluent in Korean. He was so excited when he found out we were going to be living in the same town and, you'll never guess it..... we're going to the same school! I begged my mum to let me go to that school since i knew Jake went there so i'd know someone. To my surprise she said yes without hesitation, she just wanted me to be happy and comfortable.

Anyways, back to the present, it's 6 in the morning in the UK and all 3 of us are up and getting ready to go to the airport. Korea is 9 hours ahead of us so it's currently 3pm there. Our flight is at 8am and it's a 13 hour flight from here in London to Seoul meaning we'd get there at around 3am the next morning KST (Korean standard time). I hated flying and the fact that we would be flying for 13 hours killed me, plane seats were so uncomfortable it felt like sitting with a board down your back keeping you sat up. But in the end it's all going to be worth it.

8:00am

We all checked into the airport, got our luggage taken and was finally boarding. My excitement grew more and more as we proceeded, I was finally going be to be living in Seoul, the place i dreamed of visiting since i was 10. I can't lie though, leaving the UK was so much harder than i anticipated. All of my family was here and i had so many friends. It was so hard saying goodbye because i'll see them hardly ever to never again since i'm going to be 13 hours away across the world. All me and my friends had a picnic the day before i left, it was very emotional i'd give you that. My best friend April and I have known each other since we were 3 so saying goodbye to her was really hard, she gave me a photo album of all of our pictures together since we were younger. I promised her i'd never forget her and i'd say in touch, which i'm planning on doing. I'll call her as soon as i get there and get to the place we're staying.

13 hours later...

WE MADE IT! We are finally in Korea and i'm so excited. The flight wasn't too bad, i was asleep for most of it and when i was awake i was messaging Jake. I think he was more excited than me! We're all of escorted off the plane and got our luggage back before catching our taxi provided by my dads new company to take us to where we're staying. The place is beautiful! It's so modern and tidy, i gotta say i didn't expect it what so ever. I immediately went to my room which was MASSIVE. I had an on suite bathroom! It was incredible!
