A/N:
When I refer to people as "Blacks," I do not mean any of my comments In a racist or offensive way. My apologies if any comments were misinterpreted.
_________
My first thought when I entered the Black City was a place I had heard of before, called New York. Or New Yourk, I'm not sure how you spell it.There were tall, massively tall buildings that looked as if they could soar through the sky. The rusting benches sat pleasantly in the dry, water-deprived grass. In a book about New York, I read about all of the tourist stops, and it looked like the Empire State Building stood tall in the distance.
"This looks like a place I've read about in a book," I told Ben. "It's called New York."
"Hmm. Never heard of it," he replied. Suddenly, I lurched forward, and Ben grabbed me and steadied me. Some Black dude grabbed my shoulder and whipped me around. He stared at me, sizing me up.
"Well, well, well," he said, looking me up and down. "Look what our little Benignus has drawn in."
Ben came in front of me, guarding me from the tall man. "What took you so long?""We had some preoccupations," I replied bravely.
"Did you, now?" the guy asked. Then, he turned to me.
"So, is it a boy or girl?""What are you talking about?" I asked.
"Nothing happened between us, Cunnus," Ben said. "I would recommend it that you step aside before I kill you."
Then, I saw Ben fiddling with his pockets in front of me. He pulled something out and secretly passed it to me behind him. I took it, asking no questions. A knife."You wouldn't kill me. Little Benignus? Ha, no way. He's barely finished training."
"What's training?" I asked, at the same time Ben said, "My name is Ben."
Cunnus ignored both of us.
"Now, come on. If you didn't do anything before to her, you know you'll end up with her at one point," Cunnus drawled.
I stepped forward.
"There's nothing going on between us. Last time," Ben threatened, pulling a gun out of his pocket.
"Ben," I whispered. "What's training?"
He, too, ignored my question. I Was starting to get peeved that no one would listen to me.
"Why did you come to talk to me in the first place?" Ben asked.
"I have some... news," Cunnus said, suddenly getting serious. If I hadn't known his personality, I would have said he looked kind and respectful.
As if."Spit it out," Ben groaned.
"Ben, what is training?" I whispered.
Did he listen to me?
Nope."Formosus is Red," Cunnis said. "His Reveal was yesterday."
"What makes you think I don't know that about my own brother?" Ben sneered.
I gasped. I knew that Ben and that boy had looked alike! But there were still so many holes, so many pieces missing.
Like, how did they know I would be Black, and send me a Black escort? Hm. Maybe they knew ahead of time. But it's still so coincidental.
"I just figured you'd like to know," Cunnus replied. "You neglected him enough before, I didn't even think you remembered his existence. Poor kid. His only brother, not talking to him..."
"Stop," Ben said, glaring at Cunnus. What a jerk he was. I didn't want to be anywhere near that kid. He gave me the creeps.
Cunnus had black hair that was jelled forward. The tips were blue. He looks older than he presents himself, so I figured he was in his late teens or early twenties. It was hard to tell with him. He wasn't incredibly handsome, or incredibly strong, but he was thin and seemed to have a pretty good build. He had tattoos peeking out from under his short-sleeved shirt. He wore baggy black pants that bulged at the pockets, and his black sneakers looked like they had seen better days.
"What, you checking me out?" Cunnus suddenly asked me, interrupting my thoughts.
"I could kill you," I stated plainly. "You're weak, unattractive, and worthless to society."
"Oh yeah? How much you wanna bet?" Cunnus replied smugly.
"Ugh, I'm not doing this right now. Ben and I have to get going," I told him, shoving the blade into my pocket. Out of sight, out of mind.
Ben nodded, probably happy to get away, but as we were walking, I suddenly stopped short.
I turned around to see Cunnus, the jerk, grabbing my arm.
"Let me go!" I hollered, making a scene. I hoped that people would come and help, but they just formed a circle around us and made noise. Ben tried to interfere, but he would be unhelpful at this point, and he knew that.
"Naw, thanks, girly," he replied. I used my other hand to come down on his arm, hard, and he yelped an jumped back in surprise.
"We're leaving, Ben," I said, passing my him and practically dragging him away. As we were walking, I asked him, "What is training?"
He was about to reply when I heard Cunnus's distinct voice in the background: "You're not leaving yet, girly."

A/NSorry it's so short, but more to come in the next chapter. It might seem like a filler now, but this chapter is so important later!!
How are you liking it so far? It doesn't have many views as of now, but with time, I'm sure they'll come.
