Chapter 1: "Soft speak with a mean streak nearly brought me to my knees"

Y/N POV:

Today it's Antonio's gift ceremony. I haven't gotten ready yet cause i'm helping set up, but i can tell he's really nervous. I go over to him and pull him to the side. "Hey, todays a big day are you ready?" i ask. "No i'm really nervous what if it doesn't work?" "It will work ok and that might not help you feel better but just know that if it doesn't we won't love you any less than we do now." i reassured him. "thank you y/n" he giggled at me. "of course and if it doesn't work blame it on Camilo and me. Since we went together we probably sucked all the magic out of that old candle" i laughed. He smiled at me and gave me a tight hug. I picked him up and brought him to the kitchen. "Here" i picked an empanada and shoved a small piece in his mouth. "Go on you gotta big day" i said and pat his back.

"Did you tell Antonio to blame it on me if things didn't go right?" Camilo walks in snatching the empanada from my hand. "No" i said. I hopped up on the counter "I told him to blame us" "and how did you even hear that? I told you to stop using dolores for your own gain". "No i was standing outside" he said hopping up on the counter with me. "hm ok" i snatched the empanada back and took a bite before giving it back to him.

Abuela walked in "What are you two doing we need all the help we can't get go back in there" she said sternly before shooing us away. We ran out laughing and began to look for work to do.

"Y/n! I need you over here" dolores yelled. "Coming" i said and headed over. "Yes?" "Ok abuela wanted these flower vines on the roof and she just handed them to me no explanation how to do it i can't reach do you mind?" "Of course not" i smiled and went over to the front of the house.

I opened my palm and a gush of wind laid the vine neatly onto the roof. "Thank you so much y/n" dolores gave me a quick hug before running off.

"Y/n could you help me out?" i heard pepi ask. "Coming" i responded and ran over. "Could you light the coal out back we can't find the matches" she asked while running her hands nervously through her hair. I placed my hands over hers "pepi calm down its all gonna be ok i talked to Antonio he's ready for this" i reassured her and smiled.

"Thank you pequeña" she gave me a quick kiss on the cheek and ran away. "No Félix it's ok don't cry!" she yelled from across the hall. I smiled and went down stairs.

"Y/n!" Camilo yelled. "Yeah?" "Abuela wants you at the front with me greeting and entertaining the kids during the party too" "ok hold let me go change" i said and ran up to my room.

My room was a garden full of herbs and crystals and small ponds. My bed was in the air being held up by long vines. My gift is controlling the 4 elements. Earth, water, fire, and air. In my room i make remedies from herbs and use the earths crystals to charge and cleanse my area. I do some some spell work and nothing much besides that.

I change into a simple dress. It was like dolores' but with a white skirt instead. I put a simple light yellow headband on and some lip gloss and head outside to great the people. Abuela wanted to wow the guests so she told me to do some tricks.

While Camilo shapeshifted to greet people, i would form little shapes out of water and breathed cold air onto them to turn them into ice statues. I put a spell on them so they wouldn't melt.

We then went inside to play with the kids. Camilo sat back for a bit while i entertained the little ones.
"Would you like hats?" i asked and they nodded eagerly. I wove my hand in the air and hats made of small white and yellow flowers formed and i pushed them onto their heads with a gush of wind. "wow" they all gasped. "Now, who wants to fly" i asked. Yells and screams heard everything but collectively all one "me me me me me". I picked up a little boy and lifted him in the air. "Camilo i know that's you" i said dropping him instantly. "Ahh" his voice squeaked. and he turned into himself when he landed. "Ow" he said rubbing his head and sat down next to me.

I continued playing with the kids and pretended to not know Camilo had shape shifted into me and was mocking me from behind. The kids got a good laugh out of it though. I sent a gush of wind at his feet and he fell which made the kids laugh even more including me. "Ah y/n what the fu-" i jumped on top of him and covered his mouth. "AHHH" i yelled.
"What was he gonna say" a little girl asked. "fudge" i answered instantly.

I got off of him and had to remind him that we were in the presence of children who repeat everything they hear.

We rounded up for the ceremony and pepi almost got antonio wet while Camilo imitated Félix. I giggled at how excited they all were i gave antonio one last kiss on the forehead and walked away with Pepi Félix and Camilo.

When the time came i stood next to Camilo and when he noticed Anotonio wasn't moving he grabbed my hand and gave it a tight squeeze. I squeezed it back but softly to try and get him to calm down which he did when Mirabel came and walked with him.

"We have a new gift!" Abuela yelled the places started to flood with animals. They ran in a hurry past us almost knocking Camilo off his feet. We cheered and whistled yelling Antonio's name. I knew he could do it.

We entered his room the vibrant green flashing everyone in the face. He was swept off his feet by a giant tiger and he was taken around his whole room. Camilo tugged at my dress like he wanted to know if i was seeing this too. I yelled and whistled snapping when he was flung onto his hammock.

"Así es" i told him when he got down. I picked him up and put him on my shoulders. "Vamos" i yelled as the town cheered him on. I was so proud of him.

"We need a picture!" Abuela yelled and everyone gathers around. I put him down and stood with them. I knew they weren't my real blood but they never made me feel like and outsider they treated me like their own. I knew i was part of the family.

I stood next to Camilo and Antonio. Everyone showed off their gifts so of course i joined in. I lifted myself off the ground a bit just so that it was noticeable but not covering isabela who was behind me cause she would've killed me.

The night went on like normal and we danced and ate food and we had a great time. Camilo and i were dancing together when Mirabel runs in and said the casita was cracking. When abuela checked nothing was wrong it's seemed strange but i didn't have much interest on the topic.

The rest of the night was partying which i got sick so i went into my room with Camilo and Dolores. We played games and sung around the tree vines but of course something had to go wrong and it was when Camilo shifted into Dolores and when they saw each other she got scared and forgot to stop the vine and they crashed into each other. They now both sat on my floor waiting for me to finish crushing the herbs into a paste. "Wait why couldn't we just ask Tia Julieta for help?" Dolores asked. "She's new at this i forgot, it's cause then we'll get i trouble for it" Camilo explained. "Why?" "Cause we told her we were going to be cleaning around the house" I said. "Oh right" she smiled.

I rubbed the paste onto dolores' forehead and it healed instantly. "Alright i'm going to bed goodnight guys love you" she said and walked out. "Good night love you too" we both replied. "Ok this might burn a bit" i said and applied the paste on little by little since his cut was worse. "ssss ahh" he squeaked. "ow be more gentle" he fussed and grabbed my hand backing it away. "ok geez don't be a baby" i said furrowing my brows. i slapped more paste on and he yelled "OW!" "haha that one was all me" i laughed.

"ok your all set" i said and wiped the remaining paste. "now go to bed" i said and opened the door to the tunnel between our rooms. It was put there by the casita since we got out gifts together. I guess even the house knew we're best friends.

"ok" he said flopping onto my bed. "yeah no" i said and pushed him off. "ow!" he said expecting to fall but i caught him in a water bubble. i brought him back up. "why" i asked. "my rooms boring" he said getting under the covers. "mocoso" i said getting in bed. "i heard that" he yawned. "yeah that was kinda the point" i laughed and turned off all the candles with a breeze. "goodnight" "goodnight".

I thought this chapter was pretty good and i think i'll be doing chapters based on the movie like the days and stuff. Plus i heard the creator might think about turning this into a series so a squeal is definitely a possibility
