The kids had all taken their daily test, so now it was time for their designated free time. All the kids burst out the front door, onto the vast lands of the orphanage's property, excited to play, practically buzzing with energy.

Y/n decided that she should fit into her character as a new child at this orphanage(even though she was far from it, but the other kids don't know that), so she followed all of the other children, falling behind, her fingers twiddled together. Her face showed hesitation, as she didn't really know any of the kids well enough, yet. Suddenly Luna appeared by her side, immediately latching onto Y/n's right arm.

"Y/n! Please join us for tag!" she exclaimed, guiding her towards the lone tree in the middle of the field, where all the kids were already gathered.

"Tag?"

"Yeah, do you not know how to play tag? You can just hide with me then because I know some really good hiding spots." said Luna.

All the kids gathered at the tree and after some arguing, as Y/n observed, roles were set.

"Okay so Ellis and Amelia will be it." a boy with silver hair and striking serpentine green eyes announced to all of the children. Judging by his height, he was obviously older than Y/n and Luna. 'Possibly one of the 11 year olds.' After all, he couldn't be older than 12. Most of the time, all children get shipped out before they turn 12. Slightly shaking her head to rid herself of her thoughts, she turned her attention back to see two girls, one of them Amelia and the other assumed to be Ellis, counting.

She felt a hand grab hers before it started pulling her away, towards the forest. "Come on Y/n! We have to get a move on if we don't want to be the first ones to get caught! Ellis and Amelia are like, super good at tag so we're gonna have to stay alert at all times." Luna said with a serious look on her face, her eyes narrowed in determination.

Y/n having seen this, laughed and clutched her stomach with her free hand as they continued to jog, now having entered the forest. "Why do you look so serious Luna? This is just a game, after all." Y/n snickered.

"Well, yeah but I wanna win."

After walking for some time, Luna stopped and turned toward a bunch of bushes. Still holding hands, Luna crouched which forced Y/n a bit down, and led her into a little space between two of the bushes, a space small enough that only they, small kids could fit through. As Luna emerged from the opening on the other side, she let go of Y/n's hand and stepped aside to reveal the area around them.

Y/n looked around to find that the little path led to a small clearing. Trees with strong trunks and thick bushes surrounded the area, ensuring that no others would be able to see through. Lush, verdant grass was what made up the earthy ground and rays of golden sunlight shone through the leaves of the trees above. Y/n just stood in awe of how serene this seemingly secret little haven looked. She had the sudden need to just roll around in the grass and bask in the warm sunlight, like a child.

Y/n was brought back to reality by a voice. "I found this place a little while ago. This is my favorite hiding spot. I don't think anyone else knows about it. At least I hope not." Luna smiled as she sauntered over to the large spot of grass with sunlight shining on it, and plopped down, sitting with her legs stretched in front of her, leaning back on both arms as a way of support. She noticed Y/n staring at her, then patted the spot next to her, inviting the girl to come sit next to her.

Y/n made her own way over to Luna and sat down next to her, with her legs crossed and her hands in her lap. Closing her eyes, she felt the sunlight shine down on her face, almost like a warm gentle caress, something she hadn't experienced much, living with only Peter to keep her company back at home. A small smile appeared on her face from the comfort she was experiencing.
