2 hours later
Rodricks moms party was in full swing. Neighbors and there work friends showed up.
Most were surprised that Rodrick would come with a girlfriend.
"Wow so you guys have been together for some time."
I nodded my head
"Yeah. Yeah yeah he's a really great guy so yeah I see us together for some time actually."
I spoke to Rodricks dad at the BBQ. He was grilling some burgers as everyone talked around the pool and the kids played in the pool.

"You know me and Rodrick weren't really that close but I always wanted the best for him and ya know I was nervous with the whole tour thing but he'd met you and I can tell that he's changed I mean he's still himself but he's more rounded more happy. Me and my wife were so confused as to why he called us so excited but then he mentioned you and us meeting you and it all clicked...He was in love."
Me and his dad were talking for about 15 minutes before our relationship was brought up but I didn't think it was gonna lay that on me so casually. Rodrick did mention how they are open like that. But I was still stuck on the Love situation. We never told eachother we loved eachother. I never even gave it any thought.

We just had a moment upstairs hours ago and it was pretty unexpected but this is just pulling the rug from under me. I wish I could unhear that last part.
"Oh no I'm sure it's not love...well he hasn't told me he loved me so who really knows...I mean ubless he told you that he did then that's news to me because I wasn't aware...so-." I rambled nervously, trying to give a reassurance smile.
My mind and mouth were running on two different worlds and I couldn't land any thought of solid word.
I just needed to not be here.
I looked up and Rodricks dads face as his face was struck with terror.

"Oh no no no I didn't mean- he didn't tell me he loved- wait no he might love-darn." He was also at a lose for words realizing what he had said.
He took a breath in and out.

"I wasn't aware he hadn't said it yet...my apologies."
I smiled at him nicely waving off his words

"Oh no it's not your fault you don't have to apologize. Thank you what you said was really sweet. I have to go to the bathroom so imma just go there....to the bathroom."
This situation is so awkward and my word vomit isn't helping.
The look on his face still showed worry but he couldn't deny my request to leave so he waved as I walked off towards the house. I walked straight through to the backdoor to the front door without freaking stride.
I don't know where Rodrick went he told me he had planned his parents a surprise and to enjoy the party.

I stepped out and walked to Rodricks car. It was still unlocked but I had to key. He needed his dads car since it was bigger.
I got into the drivers seat and and put the key in and started the car. The heater blasting from the cold morning. Now the sun was setting in the heat with only a light breeze.
The heat brought me back to reality.
"I can't fucking leave." I rested my head on the wheel.
"Just think about now forget the future. Think of now. Only the now." I closed my eyes. "Right now everything is fine. Me and Rodrick are more than fine. Nothing has changed that noth-"
"Sorry to interrupt-, but...."
There was a shift in the back seat as I seen Rodricks brother Greg sit up straight to the middle seat than physically climbed over to the passengers seat. Without any words he turned off the heater that was still blasting in the already hot car.
"It was getting hot back there." He simply stated.
At first I was surprised that he was in the back seat but now I'm more embarrassed that he heard me talking to my self. More about what I was talking about rather than me talking to myself.
He pulled a joint from behind his ear and pressed the change compartment open and got my lighter out and light the blunt.
"What are you doing in the car?"
"Why were you trying to leave?"
"I asked you first." I stated
"Ill let you hit first." He said handing over the joint.
I squirted at him taking the bait. I took the blunt and inhaled it and exhaled. I did it a few times passing it back.
"You dad told me that Rodrick loves me but Rodrick never told me so it just took me by surprise. I haven't been in this type of serious relationship so everything is so new and I don't know, I don't even think I could leave if I wanted to." I stated trying to explain it simply.

I heard Greg chuckle to himself as he passed the blunt back to me.
"I just like hot boxing my brothers car, I've been doing it for years he doesn't know so it's between us." He shrugged and I laughed. Rodrick always told me stories about their little tom and Jerry like lifestyles and I know this one is definitely going to start something.

"You both will never speak of this talk in the car."
"Agreed."
We finished the blunt making small talk and before we knew it the sun had set and Rodrick was back.
He knocked on Greg's side of the door breaking us up from our conversation. He was struggling with his balance a little.
Greg rolled down the window.
"What are you guys doing in the car?" He question nonchalantly.
"Just talking." I replied getting out the car. I had the urge to hug him, I realized that I haven't seen or spoken to him in hours. I missed him.
Greg getting out the car, looked at the time on his phone.
"Woah we must have been in there for like 30 minutes."
"Oh wow time really went by fast."
"Yeah imma get back to the party see you guys." He stalked off back to the party, still high.

Rodrick turned to me and meeting my eyes.
"Hi." I said smiling.
"Hi." He grabbed my hands and bending down to kiss me on my lips. I stepped in and broke away our hands. He was surprised but caught on when I wrapped my arms around him. My head now on his chest. I heard him laugh as he wrapped his arms around me. I thought he was but instead he picked me up and sat me down on the hood of his car.

"Are you crazy. Stop picking me up, you give me a heart attack everytime." I joked hitting his chest.
"What I missed my girl." He said sincerely as his right hand cupped my face towards him into a kiss. I was in awe. His hand dropped to my waist as he seeped the kiss. As we broke apart slightly to caught our breath I gasped, "I missed you too." Without another breath his lips were back on mine, just as passionately.

This time I felt him fighting the smile that kept creeping up his lips.
"Rodrick Y/N we're going to sing happy birthday to your mother." His father shouted from the door, breaking us away from our own world.

His hands stay placed on his waist as he leaned forward and yelled back to his father that we are heading there now.
"Was everything fine while I was gone?" He asked helping me down from the car.
"Yeah it was like a regular old pool party." I assured.
He looked at me reading my face.
"Glad you are getting used to everything and everyone find." He stated giving me a side hug as we came to the backyard.
Everyone was huddled around his mother and the cake. We slipped into the crowd closer to the front as the dad started lighting the candles.

Greg was recording as everyone one started to sing happy birthday. She blew out the candles and everyone cheered. Everyone had taken there pieces of cake and left.

Rodrick had called us all into the living room. (His parent Greg and me) He explained that he had another gift. It was to a live play that his mother loved but never got to see it in person. He had left because in order for him to get the tickets he had fill in for another drummer as a favor.
His parents had left and I started throwing away the trash and cups from the back yard away in the trash.
Without warning I felt arms around my waist.
"You don't have to do that, Greg is here." He protested.
I laughed. "Well it will get done faster if I help too."
He took the trash from my hands and turned me around facing him.
"Let's get into the hot tub."
