"Welcome to Arisen, oh Great Heros!" A man adorned in too many jewels welcomed.
Wait... I knew that overly decorated man! He was the king of the kingdom of Arisen in my favorite fantasy MMORPG game, Saving Astral. I liked the game because it didn't follow the typical stereotyping that the humans had to defeat the demon king and blah, blah, blah.
In Saving Astral, that stereotype was reversed. It was what drew me to the game. This time, the Demonic races were intelligent, united, and prosperous, while humanity was a bunch of mutant monsters.
What was left of humanity were the left over mutations that survived their deadly experiments and ruled under an insane emperor. The insane emperor's entire goal was to take over the world, at least according to the game.
When the god's in charge of Astral intervened and refused to let humans have world domination, their king decided to instead destroy the world. Unfortunately, gods could only descend down to Astral every two hundred years, meaning they were unable to personally intervene.
That left the demonic race two options; be wiped off the face of the planet and face extinction or sacrifice their people to have a tiny chance of summoning lifeforms from other worlds.
And now, I was face to face with the demonic king of that very game. Not only was I face to face with that king, but my twelve classmates were as well. A hero summoning... not something I wanted to face when I woke up this morning.
