A Dalmatian and a Husky with many different shades of colors sat in a dojo watching and listening to an older police dog.
There were multiple dogs in the room silently sitting. Most of them were young German Shepherds with bright futures as police K9's and officers.
The Dalmatian and Husky room the class for fun and as a cute couple thing. The Husky excelled with it when it came to strength. Her experience as a mechanic helped her translate between the two.
The Dalmatian is ahead of the game when it came down to technique and situational awareness. His firefighting skills helped his reaction time due to extensive drills with moving fast and dodging debris with heavy gear.
Always at the end of the class the teacher would have two students get together and they'd go live. The two lovebirds loved wrestling each other. Each one had an equal chance of winning.
They both exited panting and huffing. "You got real lucky." Gasket huffed and sat down.
Marshall laughed. "Sure I did. You kept pushing onto me so I used that momentum to toss you over." He explained with a smirk.
Gasket shrugged. "You're a nerd when it comes to that stuff." She finished with a long pause.
Marshall tapped his foot and looked around trying to find something to chat about.
Luckily Gasket read him. "Which district are you rooting for?"
Marshall scoffed. "You already know who I'm rooting for. District 2 home town pride baby. We haven't won in awhile but this year is the year to pull this district out of poverty." Marshall proudly spoke.
Gasket couldn't help but smile.
"Did you hear that someone has the cure for cancer?" The Husky said.
Marshall's jaw dropped. "No way."
Gasket nodded. "Too bad he'll never know. He got selected for the games."
Marshall's heart felt like it shattered. He codling imagine accomplishing such a feat or even being a government worker just for it to turn on you.
Present Day
Marshall gulped as he looked up at the flaming building. Is sat prettily while the fire slowly took it apart. The fire reflected off his pupils like the sun. He put on his helmet and turned on the oxygen.
5 other fire fighters were with him. 1 other dog and 4 humans.
A voice spoke through the helmet. "Intel came in that there's a family of 4. Two parents and two daughters. Marshall, primo, Eric. You guys check the second floor. The kids should be in there."
"Copy that"
They 6 of them went in and Marshall took point. They split up into pairs to find the stairs. Marshall and one of the firefighters, Eric, were the first to find the stairs.
"We've located the stairs." Marshall informed.
As they were walking up they heard a crack. They rushed up to the second floor. The fire consumed the the stairs and it collapsed on itself.
"Stay vigilant. Building integrity might at risky." Marshall ordered.
They opened door by door to empty guess bedrooms.
"AHHHHHH"
Marshall and Eric turned their attention to the direction of the light scream. They rushed to a door that was burning to a crispy.
"Move!" Eric yelled and swung an axe at the door. "Don't hurt us!" A little girl yelled out.
The axe pounded against the door repeatedly but it had enough.
The head of the axe flew off of the handle. The hole was only big enough for Marshall to fit through. "I can't see much up here!" Eric called out and crouched to Marshall's level.
Marshall spoke. "Put me through and get out of the building! Get a ladder from the fire truck!" Marshall ordered.
Eric nodded turning to crawl out. Marshall gulped and took a deep breath. He light tapped his paws.
He jumped through the hole. When he landed his foot fell through the floor.
He slowly inched it out. The smoke was dense and the fire burned hotter in here.
He slowly moved towards a closet where whimpering came from. He opened it and found the two little girls but also female poodle guarding them. Her fur was burnt in some places and ash covered her body. "We have to move! The building doesn't seem as sturdy anymore!" Marshall yelled and approached them.
He stuck his paw out and one of the little girls grabbed it. They linked together and followed Marshall to a window where a fire truck had its ladder half extended.
He waved his paws in the air and the ladder moved toward them.
He looked to the smallest little girl and showed her the ladder. She seemed to be about 7 and cried when she saw it.
He looked to the poodle and then around them. The fire slowly closed in and took their movement availability. "Can you help me get them on the ladder?" He asked and gathered the little girls.
She nodded and elegantly stepped on the window frame. "I do ballet, hand them to me!" She yelled over the crackling and blazes.
Marshall lifted the youngest girl and handed her to the poodle who gave her to a fire fighter standing at the top of the ladder.
He struggled to lift the second chubbier girl but he pulled it off. The poodle jumped on and all that was left was Marshall. "Come on!" The poodle yelled out.
As Marshall jumped onto his hind legs, the floor beneath him gave out.
"MARSHA-
-AHHHHHHH-Thud
He looked around and felt his body. The floor was comfy and hot. He got up and noticed he had fallen on a burning couch.
He quickly got up and crawled under the smoke. Debris started to fall from the roof above rapidly.
Once he spotted the red and white lights he made a run for it. Each stomp caused more and more stuff to fall through.
He could see the silhouette of something big bending the floor right in front of the door way. He ran for it and dove.
As he hit the ground the 3 story building fell in on itself. Marshall moved away as far as he could. He looked behind to see the damage the ball of flame had caused.
He heard crying to his left and saw the family tightly hugging each other.
Paramedics walked up to Marshall. "I'm fine." He said taking off his helmet and walking to the truck and taking off the rest of his gear.

3 hours laters
Marshall lazily sat on a bean bag with a bottle of water on the floor and his head hung backwards. The Dalmatians eyes lost focus every couple of seconds.
A heavy hand tapped his shoulder. "You got a voice call from your girlfriend." The man said walking away.
Marshall blinked and slurped up the drool hanging from his mouth. He kicked the water bottle, when he tried to pick it up he hit his head on a desk that seemingly teleported there.
He walked towards the phone snapping his head at every sound making sure he didn't they hurt anymore.
He pressed the red home phone.
"M-Marshall!" The husky said heavily panting. He raised an eyebrow.
"I got selected! I'm in the hunger games I don't wanna go!!-
The lost dally stood in his place not moving. Tears slipped out every couple of seconds before a flash of rage took over.
He ran into his vehicle and drove to near by consulate knowing that was the closest government building that could carry out his only wish.
He sped past other cars honking and near misses. He saw the building in all of its glory yet dark background.
He left his car in the middle of the parking lot and bursted through the busy building. He found 3 people who seemed to be arguing. "What do you mean you can't find him? It's a Golden Retriever named Tuck! You do this for a living for Christ's sake!" The small 5'4 lady angrily said to the two collectors.
Marshall slammed his paw on the desk. "I need to join the hunger games!" He yelled.
The room froze and turned their head to loud announcement.
The lady stopped her conversation and raised an eyebrow to Marshall. "You what?"
He growled. "I said I need to join the hunger games!"
The two collectors looked to the lady for orders. She rolled her eyes and looked down in embarrassment. "Take him." She quickly said.
Marshall followed the two collectors out to a white Sudan. All he wanted was to see his love, his reason to live, his everything. He'd do anything to make sure she's safe. Even if it meant taking another life.
